A great orchestral piece. No wonder this one was on the Top 10 not long ago. The beginning is dark and deeply mysterious. In the background we can suddenly hear timpani drums, then it explodes into a real orchestral piece. It slows down, speeds up, rises and twists with elegant precisement. The different parts are very varied. Everything from insanely beautiful to powerful parts in best WarCraft 2 style. Masterfully done. All tempochanges and volume changes sound marvelous. The instruments are well above standard quality. Well worth a download.

A nice dance melody here with the piano starring as the main instrument. Not bad, but still some way before this artist will reach the heights of Cyberzip and Orion. The beginning is very nice, but as it builds(and builds nicely) I miss the striking chords we so often hear in the best dance music. Nice arrangement, especially the beginning, builing slowly and becoming more advanced by every step. But instead of only slowly becoming more advanced, I'd like to hear it suddenly burst in to some real dance with good rhythm as this song is a bit slow for a dance song. Sample quality is good.

Just like the song right above this one on the list, Covert Operation, this song gets its name from the speech sample taken from Necros's Point of Departure. Musically this is kinda messy, but quite good even so. The arrangement is more convincing, I can hear that this song is very inspired from Point of Departure. The speech samples are overused. Sample quality is higher than usual .s3m standard, but not by much.

I think this is the first time I've reviewed a song done by a girl. It's not bad at all. There are some really good sections in here, but it needs some more work I think. A good effort. You can't deny that this sounds very cool all the way, but try muting the drumloop and there won't be much left. Samples are ok, nothing more nothing less.

So far I've reviewed a whole bunch of remixes, but I haven't heard any of the originals. This remix of an old Aha song, was done by Wraith, well-known for his excellent remixes. I don't think this is any exception. All the notes seem right, and the general sound of the whole thing is very good. This is probably not Wraith's fault, but the beginning seems a bit corny... Samples hold a little above .s3m quality. The use of the samples are great. Most samples seem to blend very well in. It is a shame that I haven't heard the original. There are a few samples, however, that seem a little out of place.

This is probably a remixed folk song. A great little mod with a very good melody with many tweaks. A pleasure to the ear that reminds me a bit of Tolkien-like songs. The samples sound very good for a mod from 1993, and are used excellently. The drums, bass, gitar and the lead sounds great. Nothing to stomp my feet on, except that it is far to short.

Nice build-up. Strings elvolving into a nice melodic piece with good rhythmic drums. The piece is beautiful and variated throughout. But I'd like the melody to have more tweaks, coz it gets boring mid-ways. Beautifully arranged, especially the drums. Samples are all clean and good. The individual instrument blend beautifully together.

Great leads. That's the first thought that struck me, then there's this horrible 666 voice talking. The leads are excellent and colourful through the song, but they are a bit unfocused. The song doesn't take off the way it should and thus never really caught my attention. Great samples used, the voices especially sound very cool. But as I mentioned, the song should have a more firm beat entering along the way, otherwise it gets boring even though the great lead.

An emotional song with a serious subject. The melody is very nice and flows good, but the song is repetive. I'd love to hear a version of this song that had been more worked on to gain more colour. Some parts reminds me of Enya. The melodies in the beginning are very good, but becomes more random further into the song. Nice samples, but arrangement isn't of the best I've heard. More work needed, the strings repets far to much. This song has very good potential, but the sad emotions we feel upon hearing the beginning vanishes after a short while ...

A good chip tune that is far to short. The melody is very good, but I can't really get a grip on it before the song is finished. The hi-hats are to loud. arrangement is very good though there seems to be a glitch of some kind not far into the song (might be playback fault of ModPlug). Good, clear(and small) samples.

A rather good techno song from the age of the .mods... The intro is nice with a feel of accelerating, and the drums are good, and the changes throughout are interresting. Especially a part near the middle sounds very good. As usual with techno, arrangement becomes the more important. This work reminds me of trance as much as it does techno at times. Samples are abit above .mod average. Arrangement is excellent for a .mod.

If you listen carefully you can hear LK's doskpop style influences in this mod. I'm not familiar with Vogue though. The composition is no less than proffesional, one of the better techno songs I've heard in fact, and a nice change from all the rubbish techno that's out there. The arrangement is this songs strongest side, all the little details and effects make this song worth the download. If you are a shittie-techno composer, then get this a nd learn from the master. This orchestral piece by Raputin starts out with simple pizzicato strings, but slowly evolve into a more powerful song. Some bits here and there reminds me of Zelda 3. The piece has moderate changes throughout and keeps the listener somewhat interrested, but the theme is to boring really... It's not bad, on the contrary, the strings are very good performed and sounds excellent at times, but generally this song is to boring. The arrangement is pretty simplistic, only the strings sounds very life-like. The samples and arrangement hold standard .s3m quality... I think the artist could have worked more on making this song both more interresting and made the arrangement more proffesional.

A great melody here that I suspect will be stuck on my brain for weeks. A very funny song indeed with great twist along the way. I know I've heard this melody before, but dammit, where? I don't think I'm gonna get any sleep tonight ... The arrangement is functionally. The artist should have been more aware of the volume, coz this song gets very noisy sometimes. I was surprised to come by such a great piece by such a great artist that I'd never heard before. The beginning sounds great using first a saxophone and some really weird sounds, then suddenly there pops out a funky beat. And before you really know what's going on you're in the middle of a really jazzy song(or maybe funky, hell I'm no good at this). This song simply must be heard. The complexity of the piece is overwhelming. Also I must mention that this song has some very circus-like and comical tendencies. Everything sounds so darn genious. Samples might be old but I can hardly hear any difference between this and a real band ... This is a must-download. A great song by a scene legend.

The piano play is superb and intelligent. Musically a pure pleasure to the ear as everything seems to blend together excellently. Everything is very colorful and varied. But far to short... This side of the song isn't to good though, the technical aspects of the piano is excellent but everything else is just pasted down with little thought as to what can really be done with a tracker. The samples are of mediocre quality only. Apart from the piano.

Oh, I'm not gonna bother writing any more than this. The artist understands the concept of Chip-tunes well, and honestly I think he could have made this worth a download if he had wanted to... 17k, 8 second download. Tough to classify this one... Well the intro is very nice, but the drums that enter could have used to some other samples. They seem very repetive but have some nice fill-ins along the way. The notes in the melody seems quite random at times ... Some transitions comes to abruptly. As mentioned, the intro is quite atmospheric, but not far into the song the atmosphere vanishes. Well here's something unusual ... A slow song by LizardKing. Nothing wrong about a slow song with well-chosen chords, but it's very boring compared to other songs by him. The name suits the style LizardKing has chosen, LizardKing is far from home, nut he remembered to bring his trusty cheezy lead with him. Thank god ... It's the only thing that keeps this thing interresting. The sound of the cheezy well-known lead really saves this song, and I, being a fan and all, thinking that he might do a break from that particular lead, regret ever doing so ... All samples are great! If not say excellent, but LK can track much more advanced then this. I know that for a fact. This is far from his most advanced work.

I admit that this is not my kind of music. And I see no charm here. The guitar play miight be very fancy for those that like such but it's sampled, and this is tracking. Period. It does however have a part near the end that has something that reminds me of a melody though. I don't think there's more to mention except the fact that far too many guitar riffs has been sampled in directly for this to be a spectacular mod ...

I've never heard the original of this song. But I'm starting to get familiar with the remixes. I believe this one is created by Wraith (Mail me if I'm wrong). The only really original thing, compared to other remixes, is that this one sounds like a live-performance. And unlike many of these mods I hear with added applause and cheering, it sounds really convincing. I don't feel that I need to take you any more through this song. If you've heard the original, I advice you download it so you can brag of hearing it live :)~ ... Well, there's nothing wrong here as far I can tell. All samples fit in and blend together, and the crowd samples are well used. The only objection here is the bell that sounds a bit out of place. And once more; great live samples.

Loads of variation keeps you nearly addicted all the way. A pleasure to the ears As mentioned above, the guitar sounds awesome for a mod. The drumwork is nearly as good. The intro is very good, you're expecting a totally different song than what elvolves after a little while. After the intro there's kind of a lazy beat and the guitars makes their entry. The LizardKing theme. A great song, or just a another mod I have to review? Read on. One thing is for sure. This is LizardKings style, the melody is very majestetic with demo/dance elements in the background. The cheezy lead that LK so often uses comes after a little while after using a trumpet for lead. There are many changes throughou, mostly consisting of a change of lead, but also there are section where the song sounds very classical and orchestral. Great song. LizardKing at his usual best. An old mod by my favourite composer. A great song too. Pay attention to the splendid leads you'll always find in Jogeirs Songs, and the way his songs always seem to hit the right note. But enough worship. The main melody is beautiful and the beat and chords seem to drift lazely in the background, and thus describing what the composer calls 'living in a dream'. There are enough changes throughout to keep this song interresting to the end even considering the length of it. The samples are standard mod quality. Maybe not the best tracked song ever, but the everything sounds so damn Right! Also I would like to mention that this is an old, very old release. His new works are no less than excellent, but they are not on the archive unfortunately ...

Well, I don't think that the artist that wrote this tune is as bad as you might think from the score. But When I hear This Song I have a really hard time figuring out what kind of music this is. It honestly does not sound to good. And it is not possible to do that slide thing with a real piano. I can't say this a bad song either though, it sometimes flares up and becomes at least a little interresting. The drums are not really realistic. The piano-slide is simply impossible to do, and the deep strings are to deep. And the sound quality of the samples are generally low. I believe that the artist can do better than this.

Nothing really exciting in this song. There is no real melody, and the song is very repetive. I can only advice the artist to practise and work more on melodies. Starts out rather boring with a beat and a bleep sample as some kind of lead. The bleep sample does, in my oppinion, not fit in. And the bleep thingy stays there annoying me for about half the song. Then it suddenly changes in to a completely different tune. Technically not a good song apart from the drumwork which actually is quite ok. The klavier in the first half of the song is too sharp and on pattern 25 when the klavier play ends, the (looped) klavier hangs in the end for 5 patterns without being stopped.

A very good melody, but since this is a remix(of some song by Depeche Mode that I haven't heard) that alone won't give a high score. Musically a pleasure to listen to. No wrong notes as far as I can tell. The drawbacks comes in the technical department... While a very good song, this isn't a spectacular song in the respect of tracker skills. And that is what keeps this song from getting a higher score. No commands has been used at all except volume changes. The samples are clear, mostly 16bit samples, and sound very good. Nothing really bad about this song except that the artist might well want to get to know the tracker better. I advice that you at least start using volume and panning envelopes for a better feel to the instruments.

I consider Elwood to be one of this genres absolute masters. This is not his best work, but surely amongst them. It's a pleasure to listen to this melody as becomes truly alive while listening to it. Elwood is also a master of all those little details in the background that you might not hear until you solo them out, but even so, those details are very crucial to this piece. This is a must for everyone that wants to learn how to track dance. Great samples and they are used excellently to create the special feel of all Elwood songs. The lead has many tweaks and sounds utterly flawless. Great use of commands. Try soloing out one channel at a time and ask yourself how he does it... A great track.

When I give this song a 7.5 it is considering that the artist wrote this song in one hour (Which is quite a thing actually and something I couldn't have done). The score is somewhat higher than what it truly is worth, but I can see that the artist probably can write songs much better than this. The tune is very experimental and interresting with no real melody. The song fades away after one and a half minute, but does not really die until two minutes has passed. Very short, but since it was written for a one hour compo I suppose it's hard to make a long song so it doesn't really pull down the score as I would with a non-one-hour-compo song. This song is excellently tracked. Interresting use of samples and a great beat with an ambient feel to it. The effects used in this song are very essential since it dies away before it can really get anywhere. I would love to hear a longer mix of this song, because this version does not show it's full potential.

It's to bad I haven't heard the original by Cranberries, the melody seems very good. And there doesn't seem to be any 'wrong' notes(as far as I can tell). I can't really judge if the artist is a good music writer from this song since he hasn't written it himself, rather converted it to S3M, but I really can't bring myself to believe that the song is this boring to listen to. What I can judge, to some point, is that he has a good ear for notes (even though that's not a very special gift, I could never have written this song with a tracker getting all the notes right :P). I have written 'amateur' all over this review, but to be sure everyone understands, he might very well be a professional artist for all I care. It is the skills that he has used in this particular song that I judge! And since this is a converted song from The Cranberries I really can't tell that he is a good tracker, but first: the drumloop has maybe to much volume and since this song drags on(literally) for 5 minutes I'm pretty sick of it at the end. The high piano and the low piano are ok, but nothing more; correct and little else fascinating. Those are btw the only samples in this song... Nothing spectacular, but an OK conversion from a 'real' song.

An excellent track despite age. An always changing guitar song which is very catchy at times. The melody changes much throughout the song and keeps it very varied and interresting. I recognice the artist's style even though I haven't heard him do guitar melodies before. The artist shows a great understanding of musical theory and guitar-play in general I'd love to give maximum score here but the song might well deserve to be remade with newer equipment. The guitar and guitar play sounds excellent(For a .mod). The only thing that keeps this song from top score(both technically and generally) is the fact that it is a 4 channel mod (which is not a negative thing all by itself), and that it has aged. I would expect better samples and over-all quality if this was made today. Also I would like to mention that some of the stuff he does with the guitar is purely genious.

A very interresting song indeed. The beat is great! But to repetive ... Which is a shame indeed. But a very funky rhythm alone won't do it, the melody is nothing exceptional, everything is focused around the beat. This is a remix of a song I have never heard. The artist scores generally low because this is a remix. Everything in this song is focused around the beat and everything that happens around the beat(a drumloop) is really uninterresting. If the the beat had been reconstructed with a fitting drum samples, and then worked on, this could have been a song that I would have remembered... The samples in this song has overall very low quality. It's only four channels and at first I honestly thought I was listening to a mod.

The composer is attempting to describe something with this song, and he succeeds in that. The melody is extremely beautiful and sad, but there's no second theme at all. We just keep hearing this melody over and over again, with only the slightest of changes. And it just doesn't help how much I like the melody, in the end it was almost annoying. Bottom line is that this song has very good potential to become an outstanding tune, but the artist needs to be able to vary his songs to make them more interresting (Which is the most natural step when you can write a melody such as this). The piano that comes in around pattern 15 fits in good (but is not very advanced). Around pattern 22 I'm almost sure it's gonna explode into something more interresting but it doesn't and instead I'm left with the feeling that I'm hearing it for the second time. Samples are nice and clear, not exceptional. Arrangement is not exceptional
