This isn't a style I personally prefer but it sounds superb! I did enjoy listening to it when it got going, and when it paused for a few seconds it came back with another great part of the symphony. Theres so many good instruments playing their parts its hard to pick out a single one, they all sound very good with each other. To start with, LittleElk has chosen a great selection of samples, they're all very crisp and clean, when I heard the violin at the beginning I saw why the filesize was so big! It sounded so real, the intro pattern shows just how good the samples are, if you like classical then this is a must, if not then get it anyway because it's one of the best you're going to hear! :)

Personally I did'nt like this much myself but I do think it would appeal to some people out there. The drum rhythym is put together well with some nice rolls and fits in with the upbeat theme. The trumpet sounded good when it did come in but I did'nt like the other instruments that were used. With the rolling xylophone it gets a bit cheeky :) and can get catchy in some places. So it's not that bad. 2'23'' isn't really a good length for a song, and it does tend to get repetitive, even for that length. It's probably because the strings in the background play the same little bit over and over again, that really did get on my nerves after a while. Defifinetely worth the download if you recoginise the original, if not don't expect anything special.

I did'nt really liked the samples used in this song, in some places the samples are just put into a random garble which emphasises the unprofessionalism and experimenatality in this song (phew!). It does have a nice techno rhythym and bassline, but thats about it for this one I'm afraid. The samples in this song are pretty poor, they sound like they have been ripped from MOD's dating from about 1990. It's a bit too short as well to be classed as a 'proper' release (1'49''). It's Pikkenix's first release so cut some slack on the artist.

Throughout the song it has some great use of the piano chords, but they do stick for a bit too long, the whole tune in fact. It would have been nice to see another instrument take its place and add a bit more variety to the track. The string instrument does play a nice melody now and again and joins in with the piano chording. Towards the end of the piece though it gets frustrating because all it does is change key and with 4 channels it can get very repetitive. It doesn't use many instruments, they pretty much stay the same throughout the song in each channel. It's a bit short and with the repetitive ending it becomes unprofessional. I did like the use of portamento on the string near the beginning, it would have been nice to see this recur later in the piece.

I have'nt heard the original that this is the remix of, I will have to get it sometime. From what this one has sounds pretty good, it has quite a few nice electronic effects in it. It also has a nice drum rhythym to it backing a nice bassline which is about all this tune has. I was'nt too keen on the instrument which sounded like it was a bit mangled, but apart from that I think it is a solid techno/dance track. Some of the vocals like the robotic 'Are you ready?' did'nt impress me very much, but the intro vocal made me laugh! :) The track has some nice panning in it, but it does tend to get a bit repetitive for the length (7'20'') with the strange metal bass instrument sliding from pitch to pitch. I did quite like the basslines though, they were quite impressive.

The first drum and bass track I get to review, at last! This is a great one, I think the breaks are well put together and roll through the song seamlessly. The intro is nice where the string sample slowly fades in and becomes mixed with the breaks. When the piano comes in later in the track it plays a nice mellow melody along with the nice break (again!). :) As I've already said, theres a couple of good breakbeats split into a few samples and when put together they sound great. The only problem is the length (3'11''), I would have to liked to see it a bit longer. The 'wind' type sample and the string gave the track a kind of a mellow/ambient feel. Thats enough praise for this one so download it now!

Yeahhhh! I just loved the funky chords mixed in with the great drum rhythym! Sounds more like a piece of music off a game show :) The intro does'nt reflect what the actual piece is like so do listen to it all. The trumpet sounds good and blares an interesting melody along with the upbeat percussion. It's a bit too short (1'24'') and the loop does'nt work (maybe because I'm listening to it in ModPlug?). From whats there it sounds very impressive and I like it! Give it a listen and you'll see what I mean.

I liked the intro in this one, and it lead onto a great song! It is backed by a nice drum rhythym and has some lovely effect type samples in it. About halfway into the piece it stops and changes the style and slows down into a song with some nice chords and a great bassline. It has some nice melodies in it throughout the song too! A good length here (6'27''), it allows the artist to show what they are capable of and this MOD shows it very well! It's very catchy in some places, and I just loved the bassline all the way through the track. A very well thought out piece and for 4 channels it is very good, my advice is download it now!

Agh! It's just a mess of instruments! Was the artist being serious when they wrote this one? It just plays an extremely annoying and frustrating loop of utter crap to be honest. The samples picked have a kind of Eastern feel to them as they blare to the rest of the awful noises in this piece. I would normally try to find something good about a bad piece of music but in this the only good part is when you stop it! I would advise you to not wear headphones when listening to this one otherwise your ears will be permanently damaged. It sounds so badly put together and I just want to get this review done so I can do another one, it's repetitive for the short 2'18'' as well. I'm sorry, but if you want to write crap music, don't upload it to a great site.

Hey! It's those vocals again, I'm sure I've heard those before! :) Yup yup yup, you may have noticed that this is the second of Natasha's intros. This one sounds a bit more industrial with the use of more metallic percussion instruments and a nice breakbeat backing it all up. I was'nt too keen on the lead samples used in the intro, they sounded a bit 'scratchy'. I like the resonatric sample that was used at the end, that was quite good but the vocals did'nt seem to fit in well with the style. Too sweet I suppose :). But it's another neat little intro out of the 3 that have been made.

It's a good piece but it just lacks something for me to class it any higher. But it does have some lovely work on the strings and I liked the vocals as well! :) It has a nice rhythym provided by the clap and hihats, in the background there is a beeping instrument which is hardly noticable but in my opinion makes a difference to the piece. The percussion is put together well and it sounds good. There isn't much to the song, and some of the channels seem unused. But it's for an intro so don't expect nothing special, it's kind of a mellow look into whats ahead. (!)

This track has some nice use of the bass type samples and the breakbeat sounds quite good with the style. It gets repetitive but from whats there is good and well put together. The intro in this one tells you exactly what to expect in the main theme of the song, which is good for a techno track. The bass can get confusing in some parts and becomes a bit of a mess, but has some nice breaks in the song to get your breath back :) It's short and does get a bit repetitive, but all the bass samples have been used very well and gives a classic techno feel to the piece. It's good for the 4 channels it was written in, and it sounds best with some reverb in a player such as ModPlug because the samples are a bit cut off and can sound a bit unprofessional.

This is a nice laid back reggae song, the intro is quite good but it sounds great when it reaches the chorus. The string chords used in it sound really good, although the hihat did get annoying because it was very 'clicky' and gave me a headache :) I quite liked the little organ chords and the percussion was simple but sounded good. There was also some nice use of the bass sample as it was strummed with the bridges in the song. It is put together quite simply and the drum rhythym is very simple too until it bursts into action with the chorus. Definetely one of the better songs in the series. It's quite short but has some catchy parts to it, give it a listen!

This sounds exactly like the title suggests, it's very short as well. The drums seem the most prominent part of this piece. Of what there is of the melody is badly put together and the instrument used for it does'nt fit in very well. The drums are OK and there are some nice drum rolls in it but that isn't enough for a good piece of music. It's very laid with little happening for the 1'44'', and even for that short length it becomes repetitive. It does'nt use any effects and seems quite rushed when put together. When I see a MOD which does'nt have any info or an artists name on it I get the impression that the artist was'nt too pleased with this one either. But it seems the first in the tempest series and there are better ones so don't put down the whole series just because of this review.

When I heard the 1st minute of this one I was looking forward to what else the song had for me. But I was very disappointed, the pattern which repeated itself 37 times did get slightly annoying, hmm... just a bit. The eerie whine later in the song also drummed a very annoying tune into my head, that noise would be better suited for an ambulance siren. :) I was quite impressed with the intro and 1st minute or so but the repetitiveness really killed this one. It gives me the impression that the artist suffered from a complete block and could not think of any imaginitive follow on from the intro. If you want to stay sane avoid this one. :)

Hmm, well, of whats here is quite good. It's just let down by the song length. If this quality was continued for 4 minutes this would be at least a 7 but from what is here it deserves the 4.5. Some nice effects and the bassline sounds good and the breakbeat backs it all up well. When I was downloading this one I thought it would have some nice samples in a good length tune, was it? Nope, nice samples but wheres the song? 23 seconds isn't long enough for a file thats over 1MB big. It gives me the impression that the artist had selected his nice samples, wrote a bit and uploaded this 'unfinished' track.

OK, by now I'm getting tired of these techno mods but I'll try to be fair :) This one has a nice rhythym to it but unfortunately the other samples cannot seem to follow the quality. I was'nt too keen on the melody in this one as it was repeated maybe too much, as was the whole tune. It gives me the impression of a 2 Unlimited track. The string sample sounds slightly out of tune (or out of place) in this track. I did quite like the bassline when it came in though, it was simple but fitted in well. Some nice simple effects such as varying volumes do help improve a mod in my opinion as this one sounds a little too plain.

I classed this one as a chip mod due to the sharp quick samples, if the artist was'nt aiming for a chip mod well I'm sorry but these samples are pretty poor for a normal mod. The trumpet was'nt really the right instrument for a techno track but it plays an OK melody. Very simple and is easily recognised as a 'trial' mod by the artist. It suffers from a classic disease of 'let's just chuck any old sample in it', it also has a strange abrupt ending. But hey! we all used to be like that! (including me who still is ;)) Nice size though! :)

What is there is OK though and the effects and vocals sound pretty good but some of the effects get a bit annoying like the groaning noise(?). This sounds very 'electronic' with all the strange beeps and noises in this one, it could also be classed as ambient with the relaxed and laid back theme to it. A strange mix of styles but worth a listen.

This one holds the great techno rhythym all the way through but it's a shame that the rest gets a bit repetitive sometimes. I think that a small change in the rhythym would be nice as it does tend to get annoying after about 6 minutes of it! Apart from that it is a solid techno track with some catchy parts that most people will like. A good length for a techno track but it needs a little more variety before I class it any higher. There is some nice use of the instruments in here and it shows that a good deal of thought was put into each of the 'sections'. Get this if you enjoy the old style mods and definetely if you're a techno freak! :)

There is a nice tune behind this one but the samples are pretty poor and some don't fit the style very well. The bongo drums have been used well though and fit in with the beat, but the pizzicato does'nt sound too good and would more at home in a classical style mod. It's good for a 4 channel mod and as I have said it has a good theme to it. That orchaestra hit has been overamplified way too much. A better choice of samples and some simple effects would help greatly.

It has many catchy parts to the tune that really sound good and at least one part will appeal to everyone. Good length too! (9'31'') It lets you really get into it. Considering the age of the artist (12) this isn't so bad, it's just that I'm reviewing this to the same standard as other reviews. It has a nice use of the drums but later in the song it has a mangle of notes played by the guitar which does'nt harmonise with the rest of the instruments too well. A bit too short maybe but it does have some good parts to it, this piece shows that the artist has a good potential. Compared to some of the crap I have listened to by artists who claim to be superb this fares pretty well, especially for the age.

Some lovely piano work is in this one, it gives the theme that the title suggests. The strings also back up this quite well but the song ends just as you are getting into it. The shortness of this song was the main contributor to the 7 points instead of the 8, but what is there is well thought out and constructed. The drum rhythym was'nt so good and it's quality did'nt seem fit the theme and the ending was a bit awkward as well.

A very 'happy' sounding piece! :) It all fits together very well, I must congratulate Wraith on a great job on this. It makes me wanted to get the original! The artist claims that this one is extremely loud but when I expected my speakers to explode with sound I was a bit disappointed as it lacked a certain thing to push the song. The intro really does build up the tension but this comes to a dissapointing climax. The cymbals are overused in the main part of the song and it just becomes a mess. The only part I thought was well written was the intro which build up a eagerness to the listener.

I liked the breakbeat, and the chords gave the piece a jazz / blues kind of style. Perhaps a bit more variety of the flute would help this song gain an extra point! A quick intro and we're into the main song, but the intro did'nt quite lead very well. There isn't much variety using pretty much the same samples all the time, but the chorus was good and the ride cymbal gave a good background for the other instruments. All of the samples are used quite simply in this piece, with each sample acting as a background for another. The melody part does repeat itself a little and can become frustrating but it does use a nice drum rhythym throughout the song.

Hey, the famous orchaestra hit is here! :) There was good use of the 'orchaestral' instruments such as the kettle drum. The samples used were a bit low quality and the loops were'nt either, when the strings hit the high notes it becomes very noticable! The song just has no special features about it, this is just the skeleton of the original with no effects.
