Soft and melodic tune with the dominant role of the synthesized guitar, taken from one of the tunes by Radix, I think it is from "emelie". I guess this module was inspired by a mentioned Radix's module, because they both have some similar features (samples, percussion sequence). It doesn't have a proper ending, and when it loops, the synth strings from the last pattern continue to play, adding a slight dissonance to the beginning. That's the only downside of this module, everything else about it is great. And the piano is great too.

A remix of "crystalhammer" by Karsten Obarski. In comparison with the original, it has stronger bass, a more varied drum sequence, an echo effect, and some other minor improvements. It sounds smoother, but it lost the groovy character of the original. Good work, but I prefer the original. Besides, the genre that was given earlier is wrong, it's not an ambient module. The correct genre is "Video Game" because this music is from an Amiga game called Crystal Hammer.

Nice piano song with clean samples, but… why are the piano samples looping so badly? The looping of sample #5 is painful to listen to. Sample #6 also loops badly, but it's not used in any pattern, so I don't count it. Without this problem, this song would have received at least 8 points from me. So little work has not been done and so many points have been lost.

Judging by the frequent change of musical themes, I dare to assume that this module was used in some demo, but I don't know which one, though. What can I write about the module itself? Well, its duration is 3:53 and its musical themes are varied (I often use the word "variety" and its derivatives in my recent comments, but if my assumption from the first sentence is correct, then this module has to be varied because it seems to be the standard for 1990s demos to use a catchy, varied tune). It's a fast-paced tune with some slower parts. The main "trick" of this module is a rapid sample volume change. The rest of the effects are well used, so I don't see the need to mention them. Samples are fine for this kind of module. Diverse themes = lots of transitions, and some of them are quite unexpected (0:38, 2:43, 2:49). I can't say that the mentioned transitions are inappropriate, most likely, they fulfill their function completely, but they are somewhat abrupt, especially the one at 2:49. I guess I'll stop writing my "essay" at this point, because by the time this sentence was written, the comment was over 1000 characters long. To sum it up, it's an interesting tune, without any doubt. Be that as it may, it is better to hear once than read a hundred times.

A flawlessly constructed majestic melody with enough variation. It would have sounded great in a movie or cartoon based on a fairy tale. This is something between the orchestral and fantasy genres. Sound quality exceeds all expectations from the MOD format. The samples are great, and they also pair well with each other. I recommend.

This seems to be the only correct version of "blue.monday" by SLL on this website. This ancient module is an Amiga interpretation of the 1983 song Blue Monday by New Order. There is nothing to add.

Reminds me a little of "starworx" by 4-Mat, similar rhythm and melody. To be precise, it is just an old school chiptune. It's a fine module.

This is a neat production. A well structured chiptune with powerful sound. All parts of the module are sustained in the same style and successfully connected to each other. The tonality of the melody changes regularly, maintaining interest in itself. I like how well the chosen tempo/speed formula of the module (125/7) combines with the active usage of volume slide commands. Not to mention the equally successful use of portamento and some other effects. In short, all the components of a good chiptune are in place, so I approve this module.

Interesting soundscape in this module. Used synthesized sound effects (I interpret them as variations of an electric zap and a blaster shot) add a cosmic, futuristic atmosphere to this module. I can imagine it playing in a scene from a science fiction movie where a spaceman flies in outer space and shoots at unknown creatures. Or in another scene from the same movie where a malfunctioning robot shoots at everything.

Good chiptune-like dance song. There is a flute-like sample that gives this song a fairy tale vibe. This is not the first module where I hear a combination of various shortwave samples and a flute sample, and I can say with confidence that this is a successful combination.

Looks like you have represented your inner world in this song, mpxvm. When I listen to this module, I have the following image. Midday sun with clouds, in the field of view are: sea with quiet waves on the left; in front is a long beach, slightly curving to the left; low stone mountain in the distance; a lonely palm tree nearby; green thickets complete the image, running along the line of the beach on the right and separating it from the rest of the world. The feeling of being on an island, away from people. Beautiful, touching and original melody. Thanks.

Mellow and joyful dance tune. The stereo separation and samples are good and provide a pleasant listening experience. I can imagine this music in the happy ending of something, when everything is done and everyone is happy.

It starts as a fairly typical dance tune, to which more and more new instruments are gradually added, including strings in D, which remain unchanged for almost three minutes. But at 1:27 there is a break in development, the melody becomes mystical afterwards. At 2:10, when the chime sound appears, the melody becomes more lively, and at 2:54, when the drum sequence appears, it becomes lighthearted and upbeat. However, the ending is slightly ominous. Overall, this tune sounds a bit empty, but I like the concept.

Yet another example when a good module has a lewd title. This chiptune reveals an unusual (but cool) chord progression and a brilliant use of portamento and arpeggios. I especially like patterns 14 and 16 to 20 in this stunning module. Recommended for chiptune lovers, as it is great for learning the techniques used in this module (it uses just 4 samples and lots of different effects).

Two-channel module, and such a great one. It is always interesting to look at the implementation of a two-channel module. In this module, unlike other two-channel modules I've heard, main manipulations with sound are performed only by changing the note volume. In terms of using effects, this module is quite minimalistic, but its quality does not suffer from this. Each sample (21 in total) is used in its entirety. A bit long, but a nice module to listen to.

One of the examples of what you can do with human voice samples only. This particular vocal montage was made by Necros, one of the most famous tracker musicians. In this module he used several samples for percussion, one bass sample, two samples for voiced lingering sounds, one sample for unvoiced lingering sound and one sample for drum loop, all made by his mouth, as he states that in the sample texts. The melody in which these samples are used is good both technically and melodically, but the last pattern seems out of place, so the ending is somehow incomplete. The end result, although it appears to be purely experimental, makes a good impression. There are very few good vocal montages, but this one is good.

This module can already be praised for its justified duration: for 7 minutes and 30 seconds it plays several good melodies. It was made in 1991. Sample set proves the year of composition with its quality – samples sound "oldschool". The melodies are varied and nice, transitions between them are satisfactory. In patterns, effects are used in a small amount, but they are enough. Briefly, this module can be characterized by a rating of "7", but I add one more point for a variation of good melodies. Overall rating: 8.

A calm melody with a "night" atmosphere, it really has it. The string sample (#21) is nicely panned by the corresponding instrument (also #21), but it makes audible clicks when played (including due to loop points). Main part of the module lasts for about 1:09, I think it could have been longer by 30-60 seconds. It's a good module, however.

Interesting arrangement of the "echoing" module made by Banana, the author of original module himself. As well as the "alla.xm" module, it uses samples from the "Catch that goblin!!" module by Skaven, but the unused half of original sample set is removed in this module. This arrangement is much shorter than the original module, but sounds interesting enough to listen to.

Very good adaptation of the third movement of Sonata No. 11 ("Turkish March") by Mozart. It uses samples from the "Catch that goblin!!" module, but this module was made by Banana, not by Skaven. I don't really like the abrupt start and end of this module, but everything else is very good.

A very poor recreation of the Tetris theme. It is made from just one piano sample, which was common in XM modules of the late 90s. If the author of this variation on the Tetris theme actually loved this game, as he (she?) claimed that in the module, then it would have been made much better.

Weird short module. It lasts 43 seconds, and half of its duration is just silence. Not to mention that there is only one poorly looped sample. I have no idea about its purpose.

Pretty good rendition of the 1987 song "It's A Sin" by the Pet Shop Boys. Almost identical to the original, except that it is lower by a semitone and has medium quality samples. Overall, not bad.

This is not a "bad song", this is just "good, but unpolished song". It has a very good sound and it is well composed. The only "bad" moment is an unpleasant clicking produced by samples 7-9 (especially #7 is badly looped). Other than that, it's a nice mellow song.

"A very happy mess" – the best short description of this module. There is no clear structure in it, fast paced patterns are mixed with moderate ones. A couple of glimpses of interesting ideas here and there, but they are fragmented and essentially unrelated to each other. When I saw "++fire / super team++" in the sample list, I thought, "Oh no, that's going to be three minutes of one repeating pattern," like here: ++tune5. Surprisingly, this did not happen, but this does not make the module better.

This 1995 XM module has a very good stereo sound. It starts off nicely and plays well until pattern 11 (1:52), where weird voice samples 9 & 10 appear. They create dissonance, and starting with pattern 15 (2:27) it gets worse. They ruin the melody: when I mute these two samples, it gets much better. Pattern 22 (3:18) stops samples 9 & 10 and the melody ends nicely, just like it started. This module is like a clean manuscript with a greasy blot on it, where the blot are samples 9 & 10 and the clean manuscript is the rest of the module. It's a pity.

Nice and invigorating tune with melodic sound. I like the sporty mood in it. The echo effect created by a choir sample played in the upper octaves, with a sharp decrease in volume on the instrument's envelope, is a good idea.

Remixed version of the well-known "occ-san-geen" module. Of the advantages I can note only improved panning. The main disadvantage of this remix is that a lot of additional, and in my opinion unnecessary, effects were added. The melody began to sound very strange and due to the difficulty of perception (due to the abundance of new effects) it ceased to be as memorable as the original. I don't want to downgrade this module too much, but I'm disappointed because I was expecting something at the level of the original. In short, technically it is still great, but melodically it has degraded. The main contribution to this was made by the portamento commands. But this is just my opinion, someone might like this remix.

Good dance track. It has an interesting soaring, aerial sound, like it is rising high into the sky. Apogee is reached between 1:16 and 1:30, this moment is filled with energy.

Five minutes of orchestra hit madness. I mean, the orchestra hit sample is the main instrument in this module. And it is too loud at several places. Drum sequence is somewhat varied, but it is annoying. Other modules in this (partly hardcore) techno series are at least slightly better, most of them are definitely better than this one.

A pleasant ballad in dreamy tones. 8-bit samples, but the module is very well tracked, so they are used nicely, thus no complains about the sound quality. Transitions are soft, the melody leaves a good impression of being composed by an experienced tracker (I have no doubts here, just another sentence so that the comment is not too empty). Every part of the module sounds lovely, the ending literally invites me to listen to the melody again and again. And I will do that, from time to time.

Creepy ambient tune. Would be perfect as a musical accompaniment to a dark location in a computer game. For best effect, I think it's worth listening with headphones, at night and/or in the dark, while being alone.

Melody in the "world" genre. Has a very good sound. It is difficult to add anything else, because this genre of music is quite rare. But it's definitely worth a listen.
