I like the way this is put together and the speech is used very nicely. I really fits in. The size is a big drawback, because it took a long time to download on my s-l-o-w connection. The speech took up most of it. It should have been turned into 8-bit and downsampled. I did that and the size was reduced by more than half. Oh, well. Nice song!

Gargoyle seems to be able to work with the piano in a tracker pretty well, the melodies in this are constructed well and later augmented by a oboe leads (which are nice) and a surrealisic vocal sample, which is a little bit too much on the distracting side for my taste.

Overall, neat piece :)

 (SIMPLE SONG ON) IDOLATRY
 =========================

 by Gargoyle 2003

 a funky brains release

This song is utterly simple on purpose. It uses a minimum of chord
progression as in commercials, most pop songs and everything that is
intended to reach people's minds easily and to stay there.

Mass media have an incredible power over society. While in totalitarian
regimes it is common to control the media by employing only certain
people and practising censorship and desinformation, in democratic
societies the mass media are the fourth power, and sometimes the most
important one. In either society, the masses are easy to trick.
The media are an instrument to the fraction that controls them.
This is somehow a Macchiavellian principle.

It is rather ironic that I had to use a sample from a speech by
Spiro T.Agnew, vice president of Richard Nixon. :-P
On the other hand, what he is saying in (this part of) his speech is
nothing more than an obvious truth.
