.tHE lONELY sAMPLE. """""""""""""""""""""" or : ,,The Handicap with Effect # 09 !!" (C)1994 tHE oPERATOR A nice question : How to control a sample with "Sample Offset" if the sample data is bigger than 64k ? The answer : NO WAY !! This is another bug I found in FT2 during my work. With Effect #9, you can only define an offset range of 0-64K. Nevertheless I thought "Hmm, lets try to com- pose a tune with 1 sample ..." And here it is !!! hAVE fUN! ---- ,,,,,, .... |^^^^^^^^| '''''' :::: |^^^^^^^^|

The music here is nothing to shout about at all, it's an very short, simple track done in a slow relaxed house/pop style. The piano is terribly out of tune, and the melody is kind of uninspired, in fact musically this track really is verging on the pits, and I would have given it a lower rating if it weren't for the technical point explained below. This track is called The Lonely Sample because it only contains one sample, mapped to 1 instrument. The artist has used 9xx (sample offset) and Exx (note cut) XM effects to start and stop playback of this one sample the way he requires to make the track. This is clever but pointless, and it's excusable that some notes are out of tune because he can't tune them independently of oneanother. This track is something of a novelty item that gains respect not because of the music, but because of it's different approach.
