Funding

It's 2012! Thanks to very generous individuals, we managed to fulfil the 2012 funding goal just as the year began. We (as staff) have witnessed incredible support for the site over the last few years, which is a humbling experience to say the least. So, again, many many thanks to those who continue to support the site. We are of course going to continue to accept donations for the upcoming year, so if you feel like contributing please head this way! :)

New Linux libbass-based player Wednesday 9th November 2011

Finally, an accurate player for Linux that isn't UADE. At the moment it's in cli form only, but with enough feedback from you guys, the hobbyist developer who made this might be motivated to put together a front-end GUI.

If you're a Linux user, please have a look into this tool as we (as a module fanatics) really could do with players based on the wonderful BASS.dll library. This is the same engine that XMPlay uses and is still under active development (so if you spot an engine bug, please tell Ian @ un4seen.com about it!).

Please check out the post by 'almos' here for the download and link to the Linux CLI player.

It will require libbass.so, available from here

Community member requests testers for PeePeePlayer Thursday 20th October 2011

From community member Syron:
I'd like to present you my now 2-years old project called "PeePeePlayer" (I hadn't any name, so I decided it to call it like my initial project folder was named: /ppplayer).

It aims to look like good old DOS, but with modern algorithms/code under the hood. It currently plays only s3m modules, but I have spent much time to reproduce screamtracker behaviour of the effects (please compare "Satellite One" by "Purple Motion" with other players), and at the moment it seems that I've got the most "original" sounding player for those modules.

Basic loading code exists for XM modules, but there are still a few things I have to do on the GUI (mostly performance). Please give it a try.
