I thought I'd also add that this song has subsongs - after the first 4 minute one is another, and then a few more... So essentially it's about 15-20 minutes long or so... I didn't time it to be honest but, still this track is worth listening to all the way through. Fantastic composition and samplework which complemented the gameplay of Death Rally to no end. Top score from me.

This is the "Death Rally" menu tune. When I heard this for the first time, i was really sure that this was *NOT* a module - but when i found these tunes at the mod archive, i was really surprised. Purple Motion makes a great usage of the main loop (that sitar-like sound) and the slightly overdriven drums really add to the atmosphere. all in all: perfect menu tune ;)

Overall Impression (10/10)

Great, relaxing menu tune. We can be glad that Purple Motion made the music for Death Rally, because he (almost) never fails at doing good music! The Death Rally music was brilliant, not only because of this very advanced S3M file.

Technique, Arrangement, Composition (10/10)

PM recorded some cool loops for this tracks. Now you probably say "Huh? But loops suxx!" - Honestly, they don't, especially in the way PM uses them. The arpeggiated chords are not only played on their default frequency, but also an octave below which creates a completely different sound. Those loop sounds were one of the reasons why I thought that the Death Rally music was not tracked until I found it here :) All in all, very high-quality samples are used - I especially liked the overdriven drums - and of course, PM - master of Scream Tracker - uses some advanced tracking techniques. Unfortunately, this tune is rather slow, hence you can't hear his insane and fast leads in it :-D Please not that this is a S3M module with subsongs. You can also hear the "get ready", "underground store" by playing some of the later patterns.

Development (10/10)

The melody develops in a quite interesting way in this tune. The module starts with some engine sounds and chords with the loops played at half speed and using a Dxx effect on every row to let them sound "cut" (dunno how to describe this properly, but that's an awesome effect, I copied that from PM In my tunes :-)). When the loops play at normal speed, the tune starts being really awesome! Those arpeggiated chords.... weeee! You can hear some really cool and happy leads in this tune, that's Purple Motion style!

Creativity (10/10)

This tune sounds very original to me, and I guess Purple Motion is always creative. :-) I also think this is the right section to mention that every tune in Death Rally sounds completely different!

Enjoyment (10/10)

This is a tune for the background which you could loop forever and it won't get boring. I guess it's a hard job to compose such tunes, but PM managed it to do so! It's quite relaxing when you come back from those fast races and hear this tune, sit back, let them repair your car, probably buy a new one, and so on... :-D
