Tracking / Techniques of Chipping by Vhiiula/Analogik

I'd say it is a great tutorial for more than just chips. I would recommend reading this to anyone new to tracking of any kind.

I took the time to review your track. It was really good. :D

If I get a review account, I will add this to the real archives:

Song Name: Elusive Dreams (ckelusive.it)
Artist: Ceekayed

Quick Rating: 7
Good
Semi-Pro

Classification: Ambient/Demo Style/Techno
Musical Rating: Good/Semi-Pro

This track uses a simple looped melody in 5 minutes. However, unlike what you may think at first when you hear this, you really do not mind it. I'll try to explain as accurate as possible.

It starts with some percussions, techno effects and synths/strings. The mood is set with a calm and slightly dreamy theme. The techno effects increases and a pling-plong loop starts which perfectly fits into the theme. It slowly moves on with new old school samples and ends up with a similiar relaxing mood as in the beginning.

The melody is easy to listen to and relaxing. It is perfect for those who love ambient and atmospherical modules.

Technical Rating: Very Good/Semi-Pro

The technical side is very well crafted. The rhythm is very original. Is it 7/4? In that case, the artist has fulfilled something I have newer managed to do despite many trials. =) Lots of Off Set, Tone Portamento and panning effects has been used. The samples seem to wrap up from all sides even as they are rather centered, creating a manual reverb effect. This also means that turning on reverb on your player probably will ruin the panning effects.

Samples are all 8-bit but the artist uses so many effects and echoes that you probably would mistake them for 16-bit until you see it for yourself. Nothing feels strange or dirty. The file size is also small, which is a sign of good tracking. Well done!

To summarize, this is a very good ambient/demo style/techno module. Give it an ear!

The Lobby / Introduce yourself - Eagle

Name's Fredrik "Eagle" Larsson. I am another computer nerd that spends his days tracking and learning all kinds of programming languages. Since I spend so much time studying things and learning, I have grown to be a bit pompous and ego-centric (I try to be modest these days, though. But I do remember times when I acted like a total snob.).

My tracking style is rather experimental. I do not stick much to a single genre, so I got songs from most categories in my portfolio. I fail to do techno and trance music, though, and the 70's psychadelic is not even an option.

Some of the music ends up in my games which are developed under the company name "Tarana Software" which can be downloaded from http://www.eagleworld.tk if anyone is interested (Notice that the website is done in freewebs. I am currently developing a CSS-formatted HTML website. That website will replace the old freewebs pages in a soon future. EDIT: The link now leads to the new website.).

When it comes to show my semi-cute and semi-ugly but even more average face, I can not show a real photo. But I do have several really good self-portraits. I found one of them in my old photobucket account and includes my ex-girlfriend (If anyone care. :) ):

I am the smiling guy to the right (Apparently I have to confirm that since some people think my drawing of my ex-girlfriend looks rather manly. :? ). Drawn with ClarisWorks 4 a half year ago on my old Macintosh Performa 5400. If I can find that wonderful and 95% accurate self-portrait I have (Which I am obviously very proud of) and upload it, I will add it here, too. (EDIT: Found it, will soon add it.)

Oh, and I forgot to say "hi, folks"!
