Help me find that... / Re: Old MODs
« on: June 12, 2019, 16:50:56 »
Okay, thank you :)
Sorry for my neverending questions ;) is there any opportunity to download the exact songs that were included to database of the old ProTracker program used on Commodore computers?
I attached one midi melody that is from one old module that I heard once, but couldnt find it any more...so please, if you know a name of it, let me now. THANKS VERY MUCH!  ;)

it's funny but just today, 11 years after my original post, I found the MOD I was looking for. :)
It's called Hightop from Dr. Awesome.
If anyone is interested, here it is  http://amp.dascene.net/downmod.php?index=19362

Wow.  A 11 year old thread you got to necro and you found the mod you were looking for! That is cool.  I also note that it's a bit strange, a gzipped mod and the filename is mod.hightop (instead of the reverse).  Anyway I downloaded it, if you were hunting for a 11 years it must be good! :-D

Mobile Phone Players / Players for iPhone & iPad

To my knowledge the only remaining mod player for the Apple iDevices is Modizer.  It has been updated with some regularity.  Is anyone else aware of any other players for the Apple iDevices?

Well it's been a long time since you posted, but I have used the Java Mod Player quite a bit.  It's not perfect - sometimes it refuses to play a song and throws an arcane Java error in tiny text at the bottom of the window.  Otherwise functionally it seems pretty good.  I do have a few quibbles with some songs that don't sound quite right, but I'd say 95% of the time it's very good.  I like that it is a portable chunk of Java - the modularity of that is nice.  No install necessary.  The GUI sometimes doesn't behave well if you mess with the size of the window.

There, that's my feedback.

I uploaded it - I couldn't make uploads work with IE, but with FF I got it uploaded.  Now it's in pending.  I want people to hear this, I LOVE this mod.  Definitely one of my favorites.

So I am getting back into listening to some mod music.  I found an OLD CDROM I'd burned (looks like latest date is '95ish).  It had a collection of mods I'd put together on it.  Some of them are awesome, IMO.  They were even in a folder I'd labeled "fave"  ;D

I have looked for some of them here and not found them.  I'd like to share them.  Let's assume I am not sure if I just couldn't find the song, and start there.  Does the archive have a way to cross check (let's say by file size, rather than name) so I'm not duplicating effort?  Is there even a way to upload mods if I'm not the author?  Most of this stuff is almost 20 years old, some IS 20 years old.  I've looked at comments, .nfo files, etc and they still talk about BBS systems and websites that are long dead.  So it's not like I can track the authors down and say "is it alright if I post this file."
