MilkyTracker Support / Re: 2nd Row Highlight Spacing not working
« on: October 23, 2024, 18:27:39 »

For the color setting "pattern:1st row bg"  everything works well: The line highlights up in the given colour and the line number on the left appears in the opposite color.

But for "pattern:2nd row bg" just the line number on the left changes color (like the choosen bg color) and the color of the line does not change at all.

I struggled with the two pattern highlight options too.
What I found out to be working:
  • Set row highlight spacing 1st to 16 (and Full)
  • Set row highlight spacing 2nd to 4 (and Full)
If you also set the corresponding bg colours:
  • 60/60/60 for the 1st row ("Pattern: 1st row bg")
  • 30/30/30 for the 2nd row ("Pattern: 2nd row bg")
you will get a nice pattern: Every 16th row has a light grey bg, every 4th row has a dark grey bg.

If you want the row# column to be a bit more colorful you can play with the "Pattern: 2nd highlight text" setting (setting it to FF/00/00 for example).

MilkyTracker Support / Re: 2 Milkytracker newbie questions

Since version 1.04 I noticed that the scope is highlighted where the cursor is.
Is a way to disable that?

I don't think so.

Also is it possible to make the Milkytracker window open always in custom position?

Apparently no.

I'm not 100% sure about these answers - but I believe they are correct.  ;)

MilkyTracker Support / MT's handling of finetune for MOD files?
« on: October 23, 2024, 12:21:22 »
I wonder how exactly MT maps the finetune value in the instrument editor (-128...+127) to the allowed range of -8...+7 for MOD files. Is there any documentation about that?

I already found out (what one would expect):
-128 <=> -8
-112 <=> -7
-96 <=> -6
-80 <=> -5
-64 <=> -4
-48 <=> -3
-32 <=> -2
-16 <=> -1
0 <=> 0
16 <=> +1
32 <=> +2
48 <=> +3
64 <=> +4
80 <=> +5
96 <=> +6
112 <=> +7

but what about the values in between eg. what happens if I set finetune to an "odd" value like 51? Any formula for that?

Hmm ... once again I can answer my question myself. ;D

While searching for something different I stumbled about a question in the FAQ: "What are Jam channels?" Turns out that this is *exactly* what I was wishing for!

You just have to enable "Jam channels" in the config (on the I/O page, section Instrument Playback). Done!

i would like to be able to playback samples (by hitting a key on the keyboard) also if the active track is muted.

Maybe configurable by a config option?

You have to delete the MT config file to start from scratch as your config seems to be broken.

Looks like you're on a MS Windows system. The MT config file should be in
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\MilkyTracker\milkytracker.cfg
(replace <username> with the username you're logged on)

Simply delete the file milkytracker.cfg (or even the complete directory MilkyTracker) before starting MilkyTracker again - and it should be working with a default config.

MilkyTracker Support / Re: Scale (x1, x2, ...) not active on macOS
« on: March 27, 2023, 18:19:03 »
Sometimes the problem exists somewhere in your own head. ;)

The answer to my question turned out to be really simple:
There is no need for the scale option because the MT window can easily be RESIZED to scale it to arbitary values.

No, I didn't find that out myself - but got a hint from a nice person on the MT IRC chat. It simply didn't come to my mind that MT's window is resizeable because other trackers (clones) are not.

So - long story short:
Choose a lower resolution (eg. 800x600) for a full HD screen and resize the window and the buttons get bigger. ;D

MilkyTracker Support / Scale (x1, x2, ...) not active on macOS
« on: March 27, 2023, 13:46:41 »
The topic says it all:
I try to configure MT 1.03.00 on macOS, could already successfully change resolution but the Scale option (1x, 2x, x4, x8) can not be changed (fix at 1x and kind of "greyed out"). Could it be that this option is not active/possible in the macOS version of MT?

If so: Is there any other way to get bigger buttons?

Thanks in advance for any hints! ;D
