MilkyTracker Community / SDCompo - 10 years - 100 Rounds!
« on: April 22, 2016, 10:13:08 »
At SDCompo, we are celebrating 10 years, and our 100th round is currently in progress. It features a large selection of vst's and samples to get your song going.

Since MilkyTracker doesn't have vst support, you're always welcome to render the vst's out into samples first.

And, for the first time ever, PRIZES will be awarded to the winners!

TAL has graciously offered licences for 3 of its products: TAL-Sampler, TAL-U-NO-LX and TAL-BassLine-101.

There will also be a pair of headphones awarded to one winner, and possibly more prizes!

The deadline for entry is May 29th 2016.

To enter, head over to http://audiotournament.com

If you want to hear some of the great songs that have come out over the years, check out the 10 year anniversary DJ mix I did.

Soundcloud if you want a timeline view and mp3 download:

Or, it’s up on the Internet Archive if you want a high quality lossless flac download:

Hope to see you there!

So I was going through backups of my music, trying to make a definitive spreadsheet of all my song projects, and I found this...

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzdt-l1mY0e_b19EZDBrY0daSWc/view?usp=sharing

It has a very nondescript name "penta1.xm" and is not along with any other of my music projects. The date is 6/17/11 which is around the time I started using milkytracker on pocketpc. It sounds like I -might- have written it, but the problem is I don't recognize it and don't remember writing it!

Another clue is that the file is dated 4 days after I took this picture:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzdt-l1mY0e_YnhXX2dkVDRKeVE/view?usp=sharing

So it is probably safe to say it's mine, but I just wanted to double check in case anyone else recognizes it as someone else's work?

Thanks!

Demoparties, Events & Compos / Introducing: Audio Tournament!
« on: February 11, 2015, 19:26:11 »
After almost 9 years, SDCompo is getting a reboot!

We are excited to share with you a newly designed SDCompo on the Audio Tournament platform!

This beta launch is exclusively for the Soundevotion Competition community. Round 90 is starting now and these are just some of the new features!

Completely new Mobile & Tablet friendly design.
Single login, no more separate Forums.
Hosted MP3 and Entry files.
Social features like Friends, Activity Stream, Private Messages, etc
And much more!

One of the most important new features is that the site can now host multiple tournaments. We are testing it with SDCompo for now, but eventually there will be different tournaments running simultaneously.. For example for different DAWs, different music styles, etc.

The old SDCompo site (affectionately referred to as "old blue") will still be online for a while for archive purposes.

Thanks to Sonicade for all his hard work in creating the new site!

Come check it out at http://audiotournament.com

MilkyTracker Community / SDCompo Round 64!
« on: January 05, 2012, 05:22:17 »
SDCompo Round 64 has begun!

SDCompo is a monthly online multi-format module competition. It is an opportunity for you to compete against trackers from around the world, share and receive feedback on songs and hone your tracking skills!

Check it out at http://www.sdcompo.com/

Entry Deadline for Round 64 is 2012 January 27 00:00:00 *CST

This round's samplepack is provided by chunter who sampled from his Korg Monotron.
Vocal samples are also accepted.

Yes, the compo is still around  :)  Going on 6 years! We've been a bit quiet lately as far as promoting the compo, but we've got a lot of interesting changes planned for the coming year. Cralias is working hard on a site redesign, which will allow for more flexibility such as smoother integration with social media sites, and the possibility of "sub-compos" which can be hosted by users themselves. These will run concurrently with the main compo, and will give competitors more freedom to experiment with different sets of rules and limitations.

Not familiar with SDCompo? Check out Remixta Episode 12 which was graciously hosted by Suva and features him and myself chatting and playing some of the fantastic tunes of the first 5 years of the competition.

Or, just come on down and check out the music and community at http://www.sdcompo.com/

We've got lots more exciting changes in store for the coming year. Hope to see you in 2012!

Hi. I finally got a pocket PC so I have been trying out Milky for the first time. I've been using Renoise for a while and Impulse Tracker before that, so I'm not unfamiliar with tracking... But I don't have much experience with FT2. I have noticed some unexplainable behavior from Milky and I'm wondering if I'm just doing something wrong, or if it is supposed to do this...

My question is: When I use effect 3xx - Portamento to note. I noticed that when I use it on a series of notes it doesn't restart the playback of the sample on each line that it is being triggered. Which causes my instrument to quickly lose volume and then be inaudible after about 16 rows when I am wanting it to play throughout the whole pattern.

What gives? I'm pretty sure Renoise and IT both restart the sample playback on each line where the sample is being triggered, even if you are giving a portamento to note command.

Is there something I'm overlooking? Why is it not triggering the sample again?

The only workaround I can think of currently is to loop the sample. But the sample I'm working with is pretty long, so I don't know how on the pocket PC a fast way to set the loop points .... The only way I could figure is to hit the plus and minus buttons, which would take forever ... Probably literally 20 minutes or something.

So, second question:

Is there a faster way to set loop points on the pocket pc version?

So..  Here's the old thread

Before I start learning to code, is there anybody else who might be interested in doing this port?
