Sampling / Using samples licensed under GPL
« on: April 23, 2020, 04:05:38 »
I came across some soundfonts that were GPL-licensed.

They said the samples themselves are also covered under GPL, which seems weird because GPL is for code.

Do I state Mod Archive Distrubution License under the Mod Archive's front and specify GPL in module message?

As of now, OpenMPT now supports OPL emulation on S3M and MPTM modules.

Sampling / Latin drum samples...
« on: January 05, 2020, 19:49:01 »
I've been hunting for samples of Latin drums (bongos, congas, etc.). Not restricted to a hard high and low opens only. I mean every hit that had to be made.

I may already have some at my disposal from sites that allow non-commercial redistribution of raw samples and some CC-licensed ones which I used in my later mods, but any other sources without the "no redistribution of raw samples" clause?

Sampling / Re: .wav to 8-bit 8363Hz .pcm converter
« on: February 20, 2015, 10:22:00 »
8-bit 8363 hz? The latest ModPlug Tracker has a feature that can do that. Use the Resample feature, then the Convert to 8-bit feature.

And if you use the IT or S3M format, you can get 16-bit 44100hz samples straight to your module.

The S3M format supports 16-bit samples, but the only known tracker to implement this capability is the Open ModPlug Tracker.

You can also have 44096Hz samples in XM modules.
