Tracking / Fake note stops?
« on: October 22, 2009, 23:49:37 »
Sorry for asking such a newbie question...

In one song I have made, the note stops appear to be there in Milkytracker, Modplug, and XMplay, but when I play it back in any of these, the note stops are ignored, and the notes continue on where they are meant to stop - which makes my song almost unlistenable!

In another song I have made, the note stops appear to be there in all 3, and the notes stop in Milkytracker and Modplug, but don't in XMplay (and there is a weird volume jump on one instrument, halfway through, only in XMplay).

Both songs are in .xm, and originally made in Modplug.

Does anyone know what is going on? I guess I am doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I don't know if it's okay to post in an old thread like this. I hope so. :)

The Lobby / Re: What sequencing (or DAW) software do you use?

I used FL Studio for about a year and made very bad dance music, since I have discovered Schism Tracker, I am not looking back! :) For things with VSTi, I use a demo version of Renoise, I guess I will pay for the full version when I get good enough to want to export my songs.

Sequencers maybe are better than trackers at putting together long recorded multitracks (guitar etc.) than trackers, I don't know. And also maybe better at MIDI control. But I prefer trackers for composing in, because I don't have to use the mouse.

Thanks for a quick and friendly reply! :)

Yes, I'm sure with practise I will one day be able to make music which I think sounds good!

Hi everyone, my name is Michael, but I call myself ant1 when I make music, on forums, IRC, etc.

I came here looking for tips on tracking, etc, and decided to sign up because the forums seem nice and friendly. :)

I've been tracking and making chiptunes for about 8 or 9 months I think, but I'm still so bad, haha! Some of my songs are at the 8bitcollective: http://8bitcollective.com/members/ant1/
