Feedback & Suggestions / Are Reviews still being approved?
« on: February 13, 2015, 14:40:39 »
Hi Hi.

Are module reviews still being reviewed and just in the queue, or is the review approval system offline? I submitted a review a couple days ago which is still waiting approval.

If not mistaken I may have submitted a review a few months ago, yet my profile pages shows no reviews submitted.

All help is appreciated  :)

The Lobby / Nostalgia

Reading "About The Mod Archive" I felt nostalgic, and even though I was not part of the community at the time, I remember visiting The Mod Archive the few times I did get a chance to use the 'net.

I then saw the old news pages that was grabbed from the Wayback Machine, and decided to look up the old site design for kicks. So for your nostalgic pleasure, The Mod Archive back in time circa 2005.

I then got stuck looking up the tracks from the theme song compo (via the About page), and hey, I might as well link them for everyone else interested in listening to them:

MilkyTracker Tracks & Songs / How to create phasing effect samples
« on: April 14, 2013, 18:28:29 »
Hi, in my part to learn tracking I've taken to creating my samples from scratch too, using the MilkyTracker sample and Instrument editors.

I've come a long way and am able to create reasonable snares, kicks and loops.

One sound I still can't dissect is the phasing wave. I can only describe it as a fuzzy sine wave with it's period phasing longer and shorter, giving a full-bodied fuzzy humm effect.

Here is a simple sample:

Has anybody made such a sound in the sample editor? Any tips appreciated.

Trying to emulate what the waveform should look like in that video, by cutting and drawing the missing parts, it sounds like a pair of robot cats mating. Apparently consistency makes a good tone, and the latter certainly shows us I can't do the former.

I guess Audacity can be used for these things. If anyone has done this, I'd love to share your knowledge :D

The Lobby / Just a warm arpeggio hello :)

Well I've spent this weekend having long conversations with milkytracker, after much frustration and much wins I've certainly improved some techniques and sounds.

Trying to build up some skill for music in a game I am busy developing, I'll certainly post for any contributions at some point too :D

hello mod archive people!

I discovered MilkyTracker and got inspired to make some tunes again. I've used Modplug, openMPT, and Psycle before.

I'll post some tunes - nice to meet you all :D
