Look what I made! / Finally! A new original composition: Derstand
« on: March 15, 2019, 20:16:30 »
Here's my new Derstand song.
https://modarchive.org/module.php?185006

9 months in the making.

It uses music boxes, bass and drum, as well as strings. It is also almost 4 minutes long.

Oh no, someone can easily make the longest module ever by exploiting tempo, pattern length, order limitations and ticks per row to squeeze the longest time possible even if the song in question is really terrible and sounds like no effort was put into it.

its truly unfair that someone is stealing music he didn't own and trying to sell it commercially... this shouldnt happen

Yeah. Who wouldn't agree with that statement?

This song is 'Sad Song' by Darkman007.

Maybe I am useful after all...

I remixed the heck out of Master Of Darkness' story theme.
It's only ~11kB, so there's not much to lose when downloading it.

For those who don't know, Master Of Darkness was Sega's answer to Castlevania before Konami decided to make Castlevania: Bloodlines for their Mega Drive.

Don't believe me? Check for yourself.

most of them sounds like an .it module, so im kinda convinced that all of them were in .it format
Not only could they be XMs or ITs, they can also be S3Ms, or even MODs (whether it is Amiga or extended version). Come to think of it, they can be in any sequenced sample format, even with the characteristic '90s module' sound.

I think we're going to have to clarify the differences between actual valid negative criticism and rude comments first.

Not saying any names here, but in general, I've seen a lot of people try to equate the two and fail to acknowledge the differences, and to be honest, it's an easy beginner's trap to fall into.

Okay, well I'm pretty sure there isn't much anybody can do about these not-the-nicest comments. What do you want them to do about it?

Yes it could be a bot or some simple manual method to produce tracks galore. But the person behind the bot still deserves respect, especially since the results are fully listenable.

Sure, the bot took a lot of effort to make, but not the songs themselves. This is a site about actual tracking skill on the direct part of the author, not about how many songs you can generate from your bot. Even if they are all listenable, they're still not as good as modules that are made manually.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to side with WouterVL on this.

TL;DR: Quality over quantity.
