How do I play this file?
« on: December 21, 2007, 16:13:59 »

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G3CB7P3W

this file is one of about 20 from a game called fantastic journey. It's got great music but I can't seem to open this file. It's suffix is .11C, but there are others ending with 22C, 44C, 22U and 44U. I think it may be raw audio or compressed somehow.

PS-The link doesn't have any viruses!

Those are compressed modules. This was discussed somewhere some time ago already, I'll look if I can find the link.

That would be great. I'm not that sure if they are compressed modules though, because they also have sound effects with the 11C/22C/44C extension. The only way I can play it is by opening my tracker and selecting import RAW data. It is very bad quality - a squeaky heap of white noise, but when I play it at a low frequency, I can recognise the tune. The mystery is that the game has so high quality music and FX that it seems impossible one could get that sound from one of the 11C files.

Do you or anyone else know of a recording program that can record straight out of the computer, rather than having to use the external mic?

Thanks for your help!  ;D

Yep, this is amiga compression ;D And it was (as is still sometimes) quite common to store sound effects in module files :)

Sorry, I was not able to find that thread again. However, you can try to run ProTracker on your amiga / in WinUAE and load those files.

I'm using a mac and don't have a pc, an amiga or the software you mentioned. Does it sound like an amiga module, because to be honest, this game came out around year 2000. That's why I thought it would be DA format, because that's what it seems most new (non-shareware) games use! Isn't there a compression app which would run on mac (or directly on windows) which uncompresses it like you'd uncompress a zip file? Sorry for my lack of knowledge of the amiga age - I'm quite young and haven't even seen what an amiga looks like!  :-[

if it's not an amiga game (which i assumed because those file extensions sounded very familiar to me), I can't give any other help ;D
