Geez, you didn't exactly pick the easiest one out of the batch, if I can remember that song correctly. Stream of Lethe was one of the songs that was in the Modarchive metal compo a couple of years ago and came in second if I'm not mistaken, right after Tuomo's "the light and nothing" (a correct decision by the judges).

Hope this helps you out a bit!

Slightly off-topic, but "the light and nothing" kicks ass. :D

I think #3 was Poisoned.. a perfect example of how good an easy-to-make song can be once you have the right samples, right melody and know how to get the best out of your instruments.

-to fatality-
perhaps this last song, poisoned.xm, by the mysterious remainings of Shaga and Goat, would be a good starting point

quasian is indeed the artist, he has made a lot of other songs as well. As for the tracker.. I myself always use MadTracker 2. To me, it's the tracker that's easiest to handle, but that's just my opinion. Just try a couple of 'em out.

As for the samples of stream of lethe, you will find them, where else, in the song itself. Just pop up the song and you will see the samples as well.

There are quite a few good trackers out there. Just go ahead and try as many of them as you can and pick the one where you feel comfortable. There is no "best" tracker. Every musician has his own favourite.

Milkytracker - Linux [ yes ]
http://milkytracker.net

Free Renoise Demo - Linux [ yes ]
http://renoise.com

Those are the ones I would recommend anyway simply because I've used them both, There is also OpenMPT and plain old Modplug Tracker, but I am unaware if either of those applications will run under Linux natively (yet).
