Hey everyone!

Just joined the forum  ;D

I'm a small time game programmer, working on my first commercial game, Ping Pong Battle.
Well I got a handful of .mod music files that were included with the book 'game programming for teens', but
have no idea whether or not I can use them in a commercial game. Thus, I am in need of the forum to try
and track down these artists, at least some of whose songs are available on this site.

I am looking for the artists who made the following songs, so I can acquire their permission to use them in
my game  8)

(For those that are on this site, and have 'guessed artist' listed, I'll write his name after the song.)

Breath_Of_Heaven (Maverick) << Size = 97.7 kb

Children << Size = 98.0 kb

Lars << Size = 99.8 kb

EchoFunk << Size = 96.0 kb

Daytime (emax) << Size = 96.6 kb

Snippers (Located artist, awaiting a response)

Over_Heat << Size = 97.6 kb

Metalsynth (walkman) << Size = 99.4 kb

Expressway << Size = 96.7 kb

Everywere << Size = 98.2 kb

Around << Size = 96.4 kb

Japaneserock << Size = 97.3 kb

Thrashzone (Keith berry) << Size = 96.2 kb

Mumstajm (leinad) << Size = 97.0 kb

Chipchop2 << Size = 96.9 kb

Wasteland << Size = 101.0 kb

Robotron << Size = 97.0 kb

Setrox_Dance << Size = 97.2 kb

Yo_Freak << Size = 86.6 kb

theanvilchorus << Size = 98.4 kb

If anyone has any information on these the artists who wrote these songs, please post it. These songs
are awesome and I would love to use them in my game. Thanks!

First of all, welcome to the fold! :D

At least Emax, Walkman and Leinad had their heyday during the early 1990s; I don't think they're still around in some way or another (scene-wise at least), so tracking them down might be difficult. That said, there are plenty of talented contemporary mod musicians around who would enjoy having their work used in a game. Not to discourage you from your quest, but that's probably a lot easier :)

probably, lol.

Where in the forums might I post that?
because I would be happy to use other .mod files if the artists are willing to let me ;)
Giving them due credit in the game of course.

Had a look through and I am somewhat guessing as to the original composers of the below modules.  You give no indication if all these mods are in protracker format (.mod)  or .s3m, .xm etc. etc.

The filenames may not actually be the module name, so the ones I mention below, may be inaccurate.  Is there any way to provide a download link to any of the modules? which may provide more accurate information...

Axxy

Children - So many versions!!
Lars - maybe by SLL
EchoFunk - might be the one everyone has as Unknown
Over_Heat - maybe by Gryzor
Expressway - maybe by Watchman
Everywere- Heatbeat one?
Around - ?
Japaneserock  - maybe by SCS
Chipchop2 - maybe by Brainbug
Wasteland - Bit Arts or Cutcreator?
Robotron - ?
Setrox_Dance - maybe by Grubbi
Yo_Freak - maybe by Time Traveller
theanvilchorus - maybe by Mantronix

The format is .mod
The programming language I use can't play .s3m or .xm, so I know they're .mod for sure ;)

The files I have include 0 info as to where they came from, ALL I have is the file name, which I listed
in my first post exactly as they appear.
(Although I do have file size. I'll go ahead and add the size in my first post next to the file name in a little
bit. Have a lot of work to do around the house first)

Thanks for the list, I'll see what I can do with that ^_^

Project / Coder's Corner would be the most logical place.

You mean the playback library you're using ;). And on that topic, why not use something like BASS or FMOD, which support a lot more formats?

Also added file sizes to my first post.

Just downloaded MaxMod2 which does the same thing, but is also free  ;D
(The other two require you to pay a fee for using it in a commercial product)

Judging on the filesizes, I would suggest looking at those I mentioned although I cant guarantee their accuracy.  Its a guess

Some revisions -
Children might be the Touldie version
Everywere might be everywhere.mod by Axel D
Wasteland might be by Bit Arts or Peters, Cutcreator version filesize probably too big
Robotron might be the one by Starbuck

If you cannot find the others here on ModArchive, I suggest a look through the archives at

http://amp.dascene.net/home.php
Modland (ftp site) or a web-based front end at http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Main_Page

Ok. Thanks for the list!

I'll spend the day poking around and see what I can find ;)

EDIT( WOOT! My sister just reminded me that I can open .mod files using the blitzbasic programming
language! I can get 'some' additional info that way. Children IS the Touldie version because his name
is listed there!!!  Some of them don't give any useful info, but then again a lot of them do. This shall
help most tremendously in my search)
