casio cassiopeia EM500
« on: June 09, 2011, 12:58:59 »

Hi,

Having been impressed by the photo in the screenshots section of the milky website which shows a cassiopeia EM500 running milky, i have purchased one. However i am having touble installing. I have copied to the cassiopeia (to windows/program files - not sure if this is correct) then when i click on milky it tells me one of the components is missing and fails to run. Please can some one tell me how to install milky on this device. also advice on how best to configure the buttons would be good.

I hope there is some other users who have this device who can help.

Thanks,

Ben.

The installing itself should simply be a matter of copying the files over after which you  tap on the executable to run Milky. I'm not sure which component is missing but I have a feeling it's one of Windows CE's, not Milky's. I remember experiencing this once on a clean installation. (I.e. I left the iPaq sit for too long without charge and the memory was wiped.)

What got things going again was installing all the updates for the system. I think most critical was the Windows Media Player 8(?) package which does something to the sound system, allowing for MilkyTracker to run.

Sorry for being so vague but I haven't touched my Pocket PC in years. I hope you get yours working.

About the button layout: Mine was directional buttons rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise for landscape operation, buttons for Play (song) and Stop and finally I think two for Insert and Backspace. And I was crazy enough to insist on using the FT2 mode there as well.

thanks,

I have copied the content of the milky download to the palm pc (my device/windows/program files) and when i click on the MIPS version i get the error message:

"cannot find 'Milky Tracker' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and file name are correct and all the required libraries are available."

I am running windows CE version 3.0.9348.

I have tried to get updates by connecting to my lap top and allowing the laptop windows updater to go on line and check/install. This has made no difference.

I have window media player for pocket pc version 4.1 - i purchased the palm pc second hand and as such have no install disks, but do have the serial numbers. i don't seem to be able to update windows media player without completely upgrading my version of CE - but cant find where i can get a non evaluation copy?
