Please critique, 1st module I've made
« on: April 21, 2013, 19:44:11 »

After all these years listening to chiptunes I've finally started to learn Milkytracker.

I've been learning over the past 3 weeks, still a long way to go before I'm making the sounds in my head come out in Milky.

The intro is meant to sound somewhat discordant, but to surprise with a pleasant melody thereafter.

I have a slight musical background.

Anyway, if you could give me some criticism that would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

The first half sounds pretty random, which is also partly the samples' fault - they don't really sound good or chippy at all. It gets a bit better when the arpeggios come in, though, so the second part is a bit more enjoyable.

I agree, the first part started as experimenting and so the samples were quite detuned/off

Since posting I found that with using the Amiga frequencies the portamento effect is different, so there's a lot more to learn.

My main difficulty at the moment is that I'm used to live recording/playing so tracking comes out quite differently.

Thanks for your feedback
