Question about KIArchive instruments
« on: October 31, 2015, 14:50:22 »

Hi, I am new here.  I am learning how to make music with MilkyTracker, DefleMask, and perhaps SchismTracker.  My question about the KIArchive instruments is:  What license belongs to these instruments?  I heard somewhere that they are public domain, but I am still not sure if any of the instruments are freely usable.  BTW, I am making PC Engine-style samples using the same sample size and envelope techniques malducci uses to rip or make his own samples.

As far as I understand KIArchive samples come from multiple sources and I'm pretty sure everyone has lost track by now where exactly they are from. They are most definitely not public domain, it's probably a grey zone and if you want to stay 100% safe you better not use them, but that applies to almost all samples, and I'd say there is little risk with those age old samples.
