Compo Etiquette
« on: December 09, 2006, 04:45:25 »

I'm new to the compo/tracking-as-a-social-activity thing, and I'd hate to accidentally do something stupid.

I have submitted a tune to the modules.pl chiptune compo. Would it be bad form if I tried to upload it here before the compo ends? (The compo rules don't mention it.)

Remember the time signature tracking compo?

it was cancelled due to too little entries, so I uploaded my entry already.
I think since the deadline of your compo hasn't been reached yet (? forgot to check the date of your post) it wouldn't be wise to upload your song into the archive just yet, because other competitors can download it too then and compare their entries to yours and see if their song needs improvement to beat yours.
So I think it's not really a matter of "being allowed to", but a matter of it "being a wise thing to do" :)

good luck!

well, why not turning this subject into a collection thread on which every odd-time-signature-track can be linked to help people find this type of tracks. A track's genre can be set to One Hour Compo, but you can't indicate that it is an odd time signature.
To help people find these kind of songs and/or to prevent people from downloading stuff that's not what they were looking for (too ugly/too difficult) we could link our stuff up here, or start a new thread.
so, to answer your question:
Yes I do think there will be more odd time signature tracking compos, but you'll have to keep a close eye on dates etc. :D
