what do you classify as Chiptune?

All / Everything that calls itself chiptune
Only stuff made on real hardware Ex: Game Boy, Nes.
'Real-bit' Tracker music with 4 channel limitations ect...
'Fake-bit' & 'Real-bit' along with real hardware stuff
As long as it has chip elements like mathy instruments

What is Chiptune?
I would like to know what the common opinion is.
Please don't be pissed if someone doesn't agree with you about it, at the end of the day this all doesn't matter too much.

The original meaning of chiptune comes from the warez scene, where people tried their hardest in cracktro sizecoding. Chiptune is the gente of music that intends to emulate the way old soundchips sound. Trackers composed that way tend to be very small in size, hence why in most cracktro/keygens, you will hear 8bit music. Nowadays the term is really broad and doesn't have any definite explanation.
