Please help finding mod I used listen to.
« on: March 23, 2025, 16:15:14 »

I have been looking for a memory mod for a long time, but there is no sign of finding one at all. But sadly I forgot summary about this.

Song title is ”satellite” or "satellite butcher". To be precise, space between each letter like "s a t e l l i t e" or "s a t e l l i t e  b u t c h e r".
I forgot file format. Perhaps it was S3M or XM, not IT format...maybe. I used to track IT in modplug, and I remember I got tired to try other format for editing something about this song, and I quit that.

I'm in Japan, maybe it was from the Japan mod scene. The mod scene in Japan has almost disappeared, and I think it will be quite difficult to search for it.

This is hardtechno. Very very hard techno.

"s a t e l l i t e  b u t c h e r" is too long for an XM title, but this module might match your description? https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=32608

You can try using mod sample master as a search engine too. As Viraxor has said, XM cannot have such a long title. Maybe sample text had something similar? It would be interesting to hear more about thr Japanese tracker scene. Is the demoscene also developed over there?

Yes, I catched after Viraxor's mention. It will be just "s a t e l l i t e" is right title. This part is remenber clearly.

About mod scene in Japan, I can't explain all of past thing. But, if you know underground Japanese hardcore scene, like DJ Sharpnel, he tracked by modplug early carrire. this is why I start tracking by modplug.

Just like you kicked a track by mod, Adlib...and so on, we Japanese kicked a track by MML on NEC PC98 or Sharp X68000. and the time that can handle PCM by driver, some composer kicked oldschool rave. they are affected by T99, L.A.Style, euromaster, and so on, and also affected Shinji Hosoe I think. He worked at Namco that time...Yep, "Ridge Racer" is all of matter...Oops, I forget Manabu Namiki as "Santaruru".
For that reason, the time that Japan shifted to DOS/V architecture and modplug began to be recognized, some composer treated modplugs like MPCs increased.

But, this not becomes longer. They shifted tracking by DAW and VST. also I moved to Fruityloops.

If other Japanese tracker is in there, please note other memory in Japanese modscene. This is a part of them. Other great composer was there.

You can look here maybe

It's worth to mention that I know at least two tracker musicians from Japan that are active on Modarchive right now?

Thanks, man. Sadly, I can't find by there one.

There's always someone there.

I write "almost disappeard" indeed, but some chiptune composer can use modplug maybe. If you know hally, organizer of EGG MUSIC, chiptune scene in Japan is not dead instead modscene was desappeard. On the other hand, they think they will gather as just "Famicom" fan, not want to gather as one scene. Other style chip composer thinks same ,maybe. like "Megadrive", "PCEngine"...
