What is the proportion men and women here?
« on: April 17, 2007, 15:46:01 »

Are there many women composing music around all the world?

I have a good idea :)! On main page (www.modarchive.org) could be different
area or areas promoting womens works, maybe as it is under "Screening Crew's Recommended Additions..." too (that list of interesting modules).

Weakness of my idea is some artists can pretend females to promote themselves!

Additionally for checked womens you can grant any prizes for their output.

"Checked" - I see another weakness of my idea...  :hrrhrr:

Here is my suggestion for design of rose box.

What do you think?[/img]

I thought of posting here earlier when it was actual, but changed my mind because I found this topic to promote only clichés and stereotypes. Even worse, it actually high-lights even more how much testosterone there is in this site's community. :/

Hmm, when I think about it, maybe I didn't actually understand that this topic was a joke. I'm too serious.

Yeah, eagle. Your right. You won't belive me but my topic tries to touch this little question even though not all of it's range.

It's too late to change my first post (good one anyway :P) and it has taken me some time to develop "new rose Site's project" that can be seen above.

I saw by accident on another site with modules a woman artist from Russia whom music was played by several radiostations there. It was interesting (for her production and history). Because often interesting is what is rare.

So, do you have a proposition/idea how to ENCOURAGE women to be more active on Modarchive area (for more variety of course). Remember! No "testosterone", "clichés and stereotypes" (as Eagle has said).

Maybe making music for them as a branch of Modarchive?

 would it help if everyone dresses in drag next time they write a song?

Honestly, OpenXP, I don't think you've thought through this idea. Some people would find it downright offensive if they found another pink "The Best songs by GIRLS!!"-shit on the web.

Women want to be treated with respect and this is the wrong way to do that. This is like going down on your knees and praise women as gods just because they are women. :(

Yet, an effort to encourage women to get into tracking is in itself not a bad idea, and I encourage that. Keep thinking.

If I was to suggest something myself, I think a better approach is by being friendly, showing how much fun tracking is and being supportive. This is an approach which works for everyone who are interested in any way and in a lot of other situations in life, too.

I want, i should and i have to treat females with respect. Let's finish the topic from now. It means let this stay as is. Now i see that my "funny" idea can be beyond reality.

Thanks!
Later maybe i will try again with a similar (more gentle, respecting and courteous) topic (if Admin have no objection) and another - entirely different (next idea, something related to news, yeah news 8) , but soon)

I think in the name of equality, each member should be given a random gender and then stick to it.

Or more seriously, I think one rather large reason why the females of the species proper shun male dominated interweb communities like this is the extra attention they'd get if they did.

That's interesting älskling. Ofcourse i am not sure if you're right but that is worth to take under consideration by different occasions.
