Jogeir Liljedahl has always been my favorite composer. I've spent more time listening to his meticulously beautiful compositions than any other artist's music. Imaginary Voyage is the definition of the word 'beautiful'. It is a piece of orchestral piano running for close to ten minutes, some times depicting happy scenes, some times nightmarish - it is a journey like no other! If I had to chose Jogeir's finsest composition ever, then this would be my pick. It is a marvel! |

Reed is showing off with some nice effects and techniques in this tune. The whole piece is quite monotonous but with the boogie theme it really works. I can't believe the tune is only 65 Kb! Quite professional! I love the bassline! |

Beathawk's tune "Surprise, after all" is one of the weirdest tunes I've heard, yet from the first time I heard it I've always been fascinated by it. The samples are as alternative as they come and the chippy melody adds a true feeling to it. The more I've listened to this song the more I've learned to like it. Now, a few (6-7?) years later, it is still one of my favorite tunes. On top of that, Beathawk always impresses me with the urge to try something new. |

Borger is a tracker many visitors of the Modarchive community should be familiar with, due to his extensive reviewing in times of difficulty for the big site. As a big fan of various flutes, i am happy to hear one of my favorites used in what is really an emotional intro to this song. The theme is soon interchanged with heavy orchestric drums and horns play at low notes. From the cute, nearly Final Fantasy-like intro, the tune evolves to a nightmarish journey of power. The 'evil' theme, as i would like to christen it, continues in different forms until about 2:25, when the beautiful flutes are brought back in and the 'evil' appears to fade away with the bright tones. The end is, however, near, and the song only lasts for a few seconds after the two themes coincide. The tune runs for 3:02, which, in my view, might be on the shorter end of what could really be an epic journey. The two themes just came together to create a beautiful combination, but then the song ends shortly after. I like the musical side of the song. Borger knows how to use various instruments to make the song both cute and powerful at will. The mixing is not flawless, especially with the horns. Without studying the tune in a tracker i cannot say for sure, but some more work on them might let them have a better 'flow'. Agreed, making horns sound professional in a tracker is hard because you only have limited effects to use. The alternative being the use of variations in horns, but this, of course, makes the song much larger - not to mention much more advanced. Overall, i like what Borger has done. I would like to see it longer. In fact, this kind of tune would enjoy being atleast twice as long. Something in the six minute range. The tune is quite repetitive, but this isn't a big problem. What happens, though, is that the listener might think the tune was too short. The main theme, the flute, only plays twice, at the beginning and at the end. Borger should really have used it more, and made the tune longer. I would also like to mention that i like the selection of samples, as well as the overall idea of the song. It fits into a number of themes, be them Final Fantasy games or medieval stories where knights roam. I like this tune, but it could have some tweaking to make it sound a bit more professional. Thanks for the listen! |

"Non Piu Andrai" starts out with a cute game-like theme containing chippy blipps and flutes. The composer has composed various melodies with these instruments but one main theme melody reappears every now and then. More variation in instruments would be positive, though. If you like this style, and can accept the song as it is, with these (generally) "bad" samples, then this song may be worth downloading and listening to once every second month. If you are not into this kind of style, then you will most likely critizise this song the moment you push the play button. The instruments do not change for the entire lenght of the tune, 4:16, leaving you with a rather monotonous impression. Good in a way, but it's my guess that most people will be annoyed by this tune. I later found out, thanks to Chris Chua, that this tune was originally composed by Mozart. The composer has knowledge on how to create melodies but show no other obvious skills. There are no notable effects in the song, but the composer has created a little variation in "style", with some parts working as refrain. My overall impression with this tune is not too overly good. Most things could have been done better. But to the composer's credit, there are some nice melodies in this one. My final score is 3. |

Act of Impulse starts right away at an oldschool/demostyle pace. As an old amiga composer well familiar with the demoscene, i am astounded by a good demotune. The pace set at the beginning is followed through the whole tune without a break. A lead synth comes and goes with good melodies. The tune would benefit from variation in the lead. The lead sample itself is a bit dark and could be brightened. It sounds a bit "muddy" as it is now. On the positive side, this creates a bit more flow in the tune. Nice oldschool samples used in a good way by the composer. Not having to look in a tracker i can tell the composer's have used the four channels well. This looping tune can without a problem be used in an amiga game or a demo. I can recommend it to anyone familiar with the demoscene. Chances are you will enjoy it. Cool ending! |

Waters of Sacrifice is an ambient tune with godlike vocals floating through the background, creating a relaxing piece of music well fit to enjoy in your couch with lights dimmed. The tune runs for 4 minutes and 4 seconds and follows the same theme throughout the tune; at times with soft drums, at times without. There is a brass in the tune which does not entirely fit the overall theme, but does set a tempo. The vocals and adjoining effects suit this tune very well and creates a theme which floats gently through your ears. The brass sound could have been different, but is really only noticed in some few parts of the song. The song ends by a quick fadeout which is not the perfect ending for such a tune; making the fadeout stretch for a few more patterns would have helped. The tune sets a very enjoying ambient theme which is really enjoyable. Especially the drums and background sounds, including the vocals and brights bells. The song could be lifted further by adding more sounds and more variation. The composer should try to add furher to the godlike touch. The tune would also benefit from being longer; once you've placed yourself in the couch, you don't want to get out of it for atleast 10 minuter. Overall a very enjoyable tune well worth the download. |

xtd is in my opinion one of the best Amiga musicians, composing a big number of various styles, everything from deathmetal to folk music. This particular tune would be more of the metal style he often tracks. As usual, xtd continues to impress with what he can put in to the four channels allowed by the protracker .mod format. In this tune you will find drums, electric guitars (lead and background) as well as bass, all at the same time. Describing it would be hard, since it's all mixed together, but I can tell you it sounds rather good. The tune only runs for 1:50, so it's rather short, which is a bit dissapointing, but he would have needed some serious variation if the tune was to be longer, Since I actually felt I've had enough after those 1:50. So in that way, I'm glad he didn't make it longer. On the other hand, because I feel "comfortable" only after 1:50, the tune won't really last that long, which draws down the result. The samples are good, as so often with xtd, and he uses them in an awesome way with only four channels. There has never been any doubt about xtd's skill when it comes to the technical side. But I still feel this song lacks many things, among them a better lead (better lead sample, and more lead samples), and perhaps some less noisy samples. It's actually a kind of standard xtd tune, good on the technical side, but I would say it lacks creativity. Considering it's only four channels, I would say it the tune is rather good. Unfortunately the ending is way too short. It just ends abruptly with a one pattern echo. Overall; a nice metal tune which works for a few listens. Nothing that will really catch your attention, but still a nice listen if you're in to this style. |

"a amc menu", which I suspect is a menu tune for a game or demo, starts with a nice bass and a snare (which sounds more like a noise). Shortly some "hi-hats" come in which also sound like plain noise. Examining the sounds, I can tell for sure that this song is corrupted, which is a shame. I could say that this song could actually be quite ok if not corrupted. I estimate somewhere in the 4-6 region. But now, don't bother to download it. Reviewing a corrupted tune is unnecessary, and so my final message is: Anyone who has the original, contact one of the modarchive admins and have them replace this song with a fixed version. |

First I should point out that this song did not have the name of the composer in it, only his email: dlrpg@excite.com, so that's what I'll call him. This song is a remix, I can't tell of what song, but I can tell that this song is not very professionally tracked. It starts with the "mix" melody (taken from another song), and continues with some tiny drums and a simple "bom-tss-bom-tss-bom-tss" rythm along with some really simply bass. It goes on like that until about 1:50, when that "noise" fades out, and three seconds later, an acid sound comes in, in a quite enjoyable melody. Some small drums then comes in and it goes on for a short while. Then, to my great horror, the terrible bass and the evil drums come back in! And later also the simple "mix" melody comes back (Doh!). If the song sounds simple, let me tell you; It is! Considering I could describe the tune in detail in just a few sentances, you might realize it's not that much to listen to. The sound is empty since there are hardly any strings (some high freq strings have been thrown in a couple of places, but they add nothing to the sound). In the end, the song just fades out and leaves me wondering; "Oh? Over already?". To add some real critique, I can say that this tune lacks 1) Variation; 2) Melodies; 3) Pressure; 4) Good sounds. That sums it up pretty well. The song has 18 different samples, but in the end you are really wondering where they all went. The whole song is repeating old melodies and the bass (which was way too high volume) is plain annoying throughout the tune. I was not impressed with this song at all, way too simple, and way too long (4:58) to be enjoyed as a simple song. On the positive side; I did enjoy the middle part (1:50-2:38), it had a nice acid-sound melody which played for a while, only to have the bad bass/drums come back and ruin it a while later. The song also fades out too quick and it just leaves you sitting there. Overall; Uninpressive simple song which I cannot really recommend. Best of luck to the composer for future songs though. |

This is a 4chn Amiga-style .mod. It starts with some short strings and basicly continues with strings too. Later on, some bass and tiny drums and amiga choirs will also play. The whole song is simple and didn't really impress me. Viewing it from the other angle, it doesn't really sound bad (unless you are really picky), except for some parts where it is off note and some sounds are left "hanging". It has some good melodies going, but because of the bad sounds, or rather lack of variation in the sounds, it doesn't go anywhere. The whole tune feels like one big repeating mess. I could name a hundred ways to improve this song, but i honestly doubt the composer is still around to read them. All I can say is that this is a novice song, which could have enjoyed better sounds and more variation. Generally bad sounds. More variation in them would really have lifted the tune. As it is now, it's mainly built up of strings, almost throughout the whole tune. And that makes the overall sound really sad. This is the kind of tune you listen 10-20 seconds to, and then turn it off. It does have some highlights in the beginning, but then it just starts to fall. If this song was 60 seconds long (consisting of the best parts), it would have recieved a better score. Nope, as it is now, it did definitely not impress me. |

"A Taste of Moonshine" as this XM is called, is a co-op between Henripekka Kallio and Matti Brockman. The style is dance, and the tune starts quickly, no intro or anything, it just goes straight to it. Fine with me, anything that gets you interested in the beginning is a plus, and with the speed this song sets right away, it certainly got me interested. The composers have used a number of samples in this song; piano, choir, strings, bass & drums to mention a few. That may sound like the standard setup of sounds for a dance song, but it does actually not sound that "normal". They have a clear sound in the song, which is due to good knowledge and good quality samples. They keep the tempo throughout the whole tune, it never slows down, and while at the same time always keeping you interested by changing the sounds and melodies. I had no problem whatsoever to make it to the end, in fact, as a dance tune, it was enjoyable all the way. And that is quite a feat for this style, where you must constantly change the song to keep the listener interested. At no time did I think it was boring. They use drumloops for the main drums, which reduce the technical score slightly, for it to be perfect they should have tracked the drums themselves. On the good side, you won't really notice the drumloops because the song is rich in other sounds. On another note, the volume effects on the strings really works magic in this dance style track. They used a "stress method", meaning the volume goes from 40-10-40-10 throughout the patterns, effectively increasing the tempo in the tune. Some of the negative things about this tune include the drumloops, slight lack of "pressure" (more stress), and the melodies could have been a bit better. These are minor complaints though, as the tune doesn't have much else to complain about. Overall, a very good dance tune which won't get you tired in the first place. Very nice to dance to, which was probably the purpose. |

"The Child of Autumn" is the title of this lovely song by Postman. A nice and fitting name for this medieval piece. It starts with some very soft concertina i believe. Slowly the composer adds up more and more sounds all the time keeping the slow, harmonic nature of the song. Postman does this throughout most of the tune, he goes up, adds more, slow it down slightly. This way the tune will never become to hectic, there is always a nice balance between the sounds. Because of this, this song is very easy on your ears, and very easy to listen to. The melodies change, and overall this song has good variation. "The Child of Autumn" runs for about 6:30, making this a quite long tune. And with longer tunes, variation is always hard to achieve. But i think Postman succeeded, although some of the melodies come back many times. Overall, i think this is a very nice medieval tune, it has varying melodies and uses the 19 sounds in a good way - creating variation in a long tune. And he achieves this without adding too many sounds, a great feat, if you ask me. The artist managed to squeeze 19 high quality samples into 477kb (unzipped). Some of the sounds did sound a little semi-bad when played at high notes, but nothing too serious. I did find the flute was just slighly off note, something you also noticed at high notes. Overall, the sample quality is great. The samples fit the style very well, they all add to the medieval feel of the song. Looking for things that could be improved in this song is actually hard. When you have a calm-styled song as this, you can't really say "some more speed would be nice", because it is not meant to be fast, but rather a relaxing, medieval tune. And as such, this tune succeeded. The lenght of the tune is also good, it is not too long, or too short. I don't think you could make a longer tune with these samples, without it getting slightly boring. He uses most of the samples effectively, playing them in different frequencies and with different effects. The "background" sounds, such as the choir, is used in a good way as they make way for an "uprise". This shows the artist has great skill on the technical, as well as the musical side. Overall: A great medieval tune, definitely worth the download if you enjoy this style. Good job! |

"March Of The Halflings" suggests this being a medieval tune. After pushing the square Play button, i can conclude that my guess was actually correct. What softly strikes my ears is indeed Medieval music! Very soft medieval, with some semi-normal instruments, we have a bell-like sound, harpsichords, strings, medieval-bass and hihats for main instruments. All this put together by the talented musician Michiel Van Den Bos, who, for that matter, also made music for Unreal Tournament. This particular piece was composed for the game "Age of Wonders", which i have not yet had the chance of trying. If you wish to know more about the game however, visit this URL: www.ageofwonders.com. Back to the piece. This lovely medieval music has a cloud of harmony over it. It also smells a bit of Chinese, which adds a great touch. I am not sure whether medieval is actually a correct classification, because after listening for a while, you begin to realize it actually sounds a bit Chinese, Something that was not apparent right away for me. I said before it had a cloud of harmony over it; this tune is very calm. If you are looking for dance or some other fast style of music, look elsewhere. To put it simple: This is a calm medieval/chinese composition which is really enjoyable. To create a lovely piece of music such as this, you obviously need skill, as well as good samples. Although this song is pretty large, at around 2.7mb zipped, it is well justified by the great quality of the samples. I could hear no noise in the samples whatsoever. Trying to find things to complain about was hard. Most claims i made could be answered by the environment this tune was meant for. It could for example have enjoyed more variation, but as it was used in a game, it fits very well. The tune is fairly large, but the outstanding sound quality makes up for this. It runs for 4 minutes and 5 seconds, which is a good lenght, but on the other hand, could have been longer. Making this tune longer could have created more of an adventure in the tune itself, but as it was made for a game, this is not necessary, nor is it very important. With its 4:05 this tune is still quite long, and enjoyable all way through. Summary: This great medieval/chinese tune is very calm. It is well composed and i really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to try the game, which i am sure this tune enhanced. |

This song starts with ocean sounds. Very calm ocean waves. Then suddenly, some very un-fitting bells and other strange sounds are played randomly. My first thought is, Oh no! This will be something really sick! That was my thought, atleast. Shortly after the sick bells stop, and in comes some nice oldskool style music. It almost makes me think the musician did that bad part on purpose just to make the real song sound better. That is actually quite a nice tactic, but maybe the listener will just turn it off at the time he hears something bad. Umm, well, it worked pretty well. The song itself is quite nice, using sounds like bass, drums, synthpads and some nice "computer-like" (you know, the ones you're not going to find in a normal tune :P) leads. Speaking of leads, the ones in this tune are actually good. They have variation and use different sounds, which is one of the thing that keeps you listening. Actually, all this tune is very varying, it has a lot of different parts which keeps it from getting boring. That is one of the main strenghts of this song, apart from its (at some points) awesome lead. I wanted this song to be longer, because with all the varying parts it could really create an adventure. But ok, it works as it is :) Technically, this song is good too. Maybe the artist doesnt use so many effects, but the way the tune is made is a nice example. When i say it doesnt have effects, i mean tracker effects, because this song sounds really advanced. All in all this is a great demostyle tune which really surprised me after the disapointing "intro" (with the bells). The artist has created a song with much variation and great techniques and awesome leads. My overall impression is that this is a great tune, well worth the download. |

"A State of Regret" as this tune is called, starts out in a very soft way with smooth synth/piano sounds and is accompanied with bass. Shortly after some soft drums enter and i am already sure this will be a soft ballad. The two composers have a quite nice tune here, i could imagine this tune in a Danielle Steel movie. Ok, time for some critisism; although this tune is calm and very smooth, i could see some improvements. Maybe the artists could have included some more instruments than just the synth piano for a lead. Maybe (just maybe) they could have created some variation by, for example, introducing a flute. Now this is not really that necessary, because they have utilized the included samples in a good way, it's not like the piano plays through the whole tune like some artists do it. All samples will break at one point and something else is introduced. Like in the middle of the tune, it breaks for an even calmer part with some strings for leads. Then in a soft way it goes back to the "normal" softness, and the bass and drums comes back, including the piano. In this tune i also noted a kind of soft horn which i can not name, i hardly noticed it because it was so well built in to the tune. Now, soft may not really give this tune enough credit, because it is Very soft! Like i said above, i wouldn't be too surprised to find this tune in a movie, because it is really well composed and you hardly notice it is tracked at all. As for the samples, i just mentioned you hardly notice this tune is tracked, and the same goes for the samples. They are well chosen and of high quality. Now this tune is pretty large, and i believe this has to do with the high quality of the samples. Drums, piano, strings, bass - you mention it, all the sounds in this tune are well used. Putting all this together: This is a very soft tune, professionaly made with quality samples. The artists must surely have put a lot of work into this tune, there are many small things which you may not even notice. I can very much recommend this download, especially if you like calm ballades. Great work! |

What first hits my ears is a storm of sad "clocks" and bass in an ambient way. This nice and sad beginning is followed by some saxophone and later on some clocks. Pretty basic stuff but it feels pretty heavy. The "clocks" are pitched down on some ocations which makes it sound rather sad, i like that. This song could have been longer, and would definitely have benefited from it. It is a very nice theme, most of the time. One part i didn't quite understand was the part with the clocks. It sounded rather weird and almost humorous compared to the other slower, ambient parts. Nontheless this is a nice ambient tune, the saxophone breaks through the ambient background sounds in a nice way, therefore i must say this song has nice technique. The samples are of standard amiga quality which i don't mind. They fill their purpose very well. I especially liked the clock which was downpitched sometimes, it created a nice atmosphere. Summary: Although this is no masterpiece, it is a good ambient song with an unique sound, very well worth the download if you like this kind of music, in my opinion. |

Swooosh!!... ok so much for an intro. This song starts with a simple piano and a snare. Shortly after some silent sinewaves acts as background sounds, and some more soft sounds enter. According to the artist this is his first attempt to make a module, and for that, it isnt really that bad. It's actually a quite nice ballad. Even though i wouldn't advice anyone to release their first tune, this one is good enough, but while not being overly exciting. Simple sounds, simple song. It's actually quite a basic song, not completely surprising since its his/her's first tune, appearantly. The samples arent really that great, i could see a kilo of improvements to this song, like better sounds, some effects to make it more interesting, better leads, more variation. It's hmm, ive said this before, quite basic, but it does not sound bad at all, it could just be better. Conclusion, simple song which may not make you go wild and dance (ahem.. it's a ballad) but still a nice listen. |

Wheehoo, i just filtered this tune from the newdir and just had to review it. This is awesome metal, no question about it. S.T.B is definitely a very skilled tracker, as he shows with this tune. Describing this tune is hard, as it consists of many different parts, a positive side not could be that they all sound great and different. Because of the variation in this tune it never turns dull, you can easily listen to this tune several times in a row. It starts with some soft guitars, shortly the electric guitar and big metaldrums comes in, setting a very nice mood. Shortly after it speeds up (in a very good way), later it slows down again, and then up the speed goes again. This lovely variation in tempo really keeps the listener listening and it shows of S.T.Bs skill. In the middle there is this calm ballad like part which sounds relaxing compared to the speedy first part. Again, it fits very well. After your pulse just dropped to a normal level it speeds up again, Rockin! This song really has everything a metal tune should have, it really sounds professional. Sample quality are not as good as they could be, as many metal samples used in mods are. However STB uses them in a great way, so you rarely get a chance to hear the "quality" of the (lower quality) samples. This tune runs for 5 minutes and 29 seconds, quite long, i enjoyed it all the time. Both heavy and speedy parts, great melodies, great everything. Bad parts then? Well i could really not find anything to complain about, except maybe the sample quality, could be a little better =) Really Superb tune! Update on 01-12-01: Now whats with the re-review you may ask? Well, if i thought this tune would really be worth a 10 it should not be a problem right? If i reconsidered the review it should still come out as a 10 if it was really worth it. That might already have explained it, but after further consideration i came to the conclusion that it is not worth a 10. That because of a few reasons, but the main factor is, even though i could not find any special flaws in this song doesnt mean it is awesome. This is the reason for this update. Now 9.5 compared to 10 may not be such a big difference, but it still shows it is not perfect. With that said i would still like to point out that this is an awesome metal tune. |

Ok, im gonna have a hard time reviewing this song, because ive heard it too much in the last few weeks ;) The style of this song is easiest described as "oldskool", or "amiga style". It was composed on amiga in the year 1991. It has pretty simple melodies, but there is something that makes this song stand out. Alot of the melodies are also repeated, good or bad? - Atleast i dont mind This song is simply great in my opinion, i cant stop listening to it! It contains a pretty normal range of samples, 2 strings/choirs, bass, bassdrum, 2 hihats, snare and the lead ofcourse. Now that i think of it, there is only 1 lead, but still this tune does not feel boring at all. Because this song only has 8 samples its also very small, around 40k unzipped, i might add that this does not sound like chip at all. It is just a very small tune. This song runs for 1:47 and is looping. Baroque has made a really great job with this tune in my opinion, even thought it is repeating and looping it is not boring. Like i said in the beginning, i have heard this tune alot since i first laid ears on it, and really, isnt that one of the greatest features a song could have? Longevity, or something. If you can listen to a tune this much it MUST be great :) Summary: Great tune! If you like Oldskool or Baroque this is a must-have. |

This .it song starts with some soft strings, or dark horn, whichever i cannot tell. After 5 seconds comes a really big shock, it "starts", so to say. What meets my ears is extremely fast, well, techno? This hyperspeedy music is accompanied with some vocals, which is supposed to sound scary or something. It all just sounds very unserious to me. Samples? Well, you can hear a hihat, bassdrum, snare and the strings/horn and the vocals, thats it! The entire tune is built up of that. The vocals are very bad, and so is the rest of the tune. This is not a serious tune (i hope). Well as for the score, this tune is not off note or off tempo, from what i could hear, which is a plus.. i guess. |

"Let's go to Hell", pretty nice name i think. To my surprise this was not a metal tune, rather a cool demostyle/ambient/dance piece. Very nicely composed, it is smooth to your ears. Lots of stuff going on, blipps, bass, drums, synths, strings e.t.c. It came to me pretty fast, this composers knows what they are doing, no doubt about it. After checking who made it i was not so surprised, Awesome, really one of the best. He keeps discovering new things all the time, his music is always enjoyable. I know less of "Sergio DJ", but since the tune was composed by both of them you can not neglect he has skill as well. Technical side...well most have probably heard some of Awesomes tunes, and this follows the same pattern of awesome (his nick really suits him;) samples. Great musical knowledge too of course. I dont know who of the artists composed what in the tune, but the outcome is great. If you like Awesomes tunes this is definitely for you. Its long, well composed, great samples. It could maybe have enjoyed some better leads to stand out better, depends what the authors intended with the track. All i can say is... awesome ;) |

This 4 channel .mod is obviously a tracker version of a 500 year old tune written by William Cornysh. This is a rather simple tune, built up of pretty lonely instruments. Either its one instrument playing, or another. That makes the tune feel kind of empty and incomplete. Maybe thats what the artist had in mind though, so ill go with it. Typical Amiga instruments. The melodies are pretty ok, though nowhere near professional. I guess it sounds ok. You may love it or you may hate it, personally im not so impressed. Maybe its one of these tunes that grows on you =) |

This is a nice dance/dream song which has a happy feel to it. The artist used strings, piano, bass, drums and a synth to create this tune, pretty basic setup, which always seems to work. It actually sounds like a pretty basic dance tune with these instruments, or well, it is above average thats for sure. Nice layout, i would like to see more leads, maybe more instruments to create more variation and make the song stand out more. Good quality on the samples, good layout. Nice pieces of variation in the music makes you wanna listen 'til the end. Even if it is repeating a bit, its nothing too serious. This is a good dance/dream song without standing out too much. |

"All that she wants" originally composed by Ace of Base is now tracked by CMS. What should be noted about this tune is that it is 100% built up by megasamples, which reduces the skill involved to nothing. Now if he would have used samples, it would have been a different thing, but as this is only megasamples this can only be the lowest score. As i said, only megasamples, even if they are of fairly good quality it does not affect my score. Ill cite this from the uploads page: "do not upload huge mods with every sample recorded from a real song". This tune should not even be in the archive. |

This rather interesting tune starts in a Synth (by that i mean the synth songs that was made in the 80's) sounding way, which is a cool style that i often enjoy. It continues in a (slightly) repetitive way, but some interesting flute leads appear a bit later. You may be pretty bored with it in the end, but its a good song, that needs more variation. Good sounds, kind of repetitive, could use more variation as well as more sounds. Maybe the artist should just have cut away some patterns, that could have made it easier to listen to the whole tune. As it is now you are pretty bored by the time it ends. Its still a good tune though, specially if you like this style. |

This 4 channel .mod by kaktus/northstar was made in 1989, which is pretty old. The tune is very weird, alot of things are completely out of place in this song. Like that loud piano for example, does not fit at all. It has a few nice parts, it is pretty relaxing at times, and has a nice flute melody. Some weird samples, the piano did not fit at all. You could always blame the date it was created, but it is simply not a great tune. |

This (weird ;) song starts with some morph sounds and a voice saying "Welcome to club dance 2002" some hihats, claps and bass soon enters and sets the speed. The rest i have a hard time describing, it consists of weird melodies and some even more strange vocals. Making this tune sound rather amateuristic. And on top of that there are some off note stuff later on in the song. Samples sound pretty good, but they are badly utilized and the song does not sound very interesting, unfortunately. Not a recommended download. |

"You Got It!" starts off with some soft low frequency strings, telling me this will probably be ambient. Some soft drums soon enters and i am more certain of my prediction. Then i heard some soft piano in very low volume. Same background stuff still plays as the piano advances a bit and plays some nice melodies. This ambient tune may not be so advanced, or great, but it works. Pretty nice samples from what i could hear. Because of the ambient, slow nature of this song i would really like to see it longer to get a full ambient effect. Also the piano melodies may not fit 100%. Its a nice tune, without being great. Relaxing |

Well, this song starts with a bass, some hihats and drums. Nothing too excited, and it continues in the same way throughout the entire tune. It also contains some Russian (i guess, the composer is russian/ukranian) vocals. This tune really needs some more variation, and maybe more of a lead. Close to the ending a synth-like sound reaches my ears, still nothing too exciting. Definiatly needs more variation, as well as a number of other things. I believe this artist has a bit of evolving to do =) Its still not too bad though. |

"yo!", interesting name i must say =) Well this song starts in a pretty oldskool sounding way, sounds pretty nice. What i did notice not so long after it started was an off-note instrument which made it all sound pretty bad. I tried it both in Modplugin and XMplay (1.7) and it is off note in both those players. Another cool thing about this tune is its size, just 27k unzipped. And this is not really chip (well, i can hear some strings, and some nice drums), depends how you specify it =). This mod has some really cool melodies. It sounds cool, despite the off note sound (which happens to be the chip lead). Cool song, small size, nice effects. I liked the ambient feeling he created in the end with the drums. Great melodies too. If he could just fix the off note sound this would be a (more) awesome song than it already is. Its sad how one small thing can ruin an entire tune =/ It runs for 1:53 and is looping. Although this tune is great, i have a problem recommending it because of the off note sample (im sure you are sick of hearing this :P) |

This untitled .it song starts with some off tempo synths. It could be that he used strange stereo effects to create this because it sounds weird. Anyway it continues with some bass drum, hihats and bass. All accompanied by the off-tempo synth. It goes on like that for quite a while until it the synths are finally removed. After a while in "relaxed" mode they enter again and continue that way. Really a Big lack of variation. More sounds could have been included to add to the variation, and this song really needs it. The second major thing i found was the off tempo synths. After about 3/4 the song finally (oops, did i say that) stops for a few seconds, and in comes a second part which sounds a bit better if you ask me. Although its not anything special, it shows a bit of variation, even if it could have been baked in the main song. Cant say it sounds too good, needs more variation, better melodies and maybe some slight tuning. |

"Yo no soy periodista" starts with a vocal saying "are you ready" and quickly begins. This is a happystyle tune with good drums, good bass and good lead e.t.c. The composer surely know what he is doing as he is toying with the tune (tempo changes e.t.c). But this tune has its downsides too, it gets kind of annoying after 60% of the tune as it lacks enough variation. The author also chose to include some vocals, which i guess he sang himself. Does not sound all too good i must say hehe. But i guess the author made this song as some kind of joke, humouros song. Good technical side of this song is good. The artist displays good knowledge of music creating. But this song lacks some serious things, variation being the key one. And maybe he shouldnt try to sing himself (no offence ;) hehe. The good parts simply cannot make up for the lack of variation. |

This tune starts out with some guitars (i think) and some drums. The melody is weird and it does not sound too great. This tune has many themes, a few of them which i really liked. The third part (starts at 1:02) i liked very much, i cant say why but it sounded very good to me. Although some parts sound kind of amateuristic, some others are very good and near professional. What i dont like is the ending, it just ends without a warning, most likely it is meant to loop. Which is does very good if your player is set to loop tunes. One very positive thing about this song is its size, unzipped it is only 64k which is pretty impressive. It uses 8bit sounds, which sounds like they originate from amiga, but i like them very much. Even if they are not top quality. This tune is a mix, but i cant comment on how good it is mixed because i have not heard the original tune. Tune Style im not certain of, while it sounds a bit ambient it is more of some other style which i dont know the word of. Despite a few weird parts the overall impression of this tune is very good. Very powerful tune which could probably have been a bit better, and better samples could have been used but they still work. |

As with the other Y3K tunes ive reviewed this is dance. You will find the basic stuff here, like piano, fast drums and the standard bass always present in dance tunes =) Y3K has added some nice effects in the background which makes it sound a bit more interesting, but maybe some more variation on those effects would have been nice. The main lead in this tune consists of a piano and something that sounds like a chip sound. It sounds nice but more interesting melodies could be made. As a dance tune this is pretty nice, with a nice drip of variation. Towards the end however you will probably be pretty fed up because of lack of variation (hmm, didnt i just say it had some nice variation? =)) Its a dance tune, and with that said most people will know what im talking about. Sample quality is nice but without standing out too much. Samples are used in a nice way but more sounds could have been used to create more variation. Overall a nice dancetune which could have used some more variation(your sick of hearing that now right?) and maybe better leads. Close to a 8 but not quite enough. |

This cool 4 channel .mod starts off in a spacy way but soon turns in to a happystyle pop tune or something. It is atleast enjoyable. The artist utilizes the 4 channels in a good way. What i want more of in this tune is variation, some of the patterns runs for 3-4 times which is a bit annoying. It has great leads, great bass and good drums. Whoever created this tune has a great knowledge of music. The artist definiatly knows what he/she is doing. Samples are good and used in a good way. I should point out this tune had no ending, it just ends leaving you feeling, "now what"? Maybe it is meant to loop which is fine by my standards. It is atleast a great tune! Download it now! ;D Im starting to feel a bit too generous here, but i think this tune deserves a 9, so thats what it will get |

"Your ears only" starts with a synth melody, some bass quickly enters and then the tune fires off with some drums. I was just starting to think it was good until the tune suddenly ended, which was kind of dissapointing. Maybe it was meant to loop, i dont know. An OK tune which could be alot better, not to mention alot longer. Some parts of this short tune are nice and enjoyable while some other are less enjoyable. Still a nice tune though, despite its lenght. If it would have been longer the score would definiatly be higher. |

The size of this tune told me it would be a chiptune, and right i was. Out of my headphones comes the lovely sound of a chip bass. Even if it is a simple melody. The artist mixes drums, bass and chiplead at the same time in these 4 channels. This tune is clearly meant to loop, like many/most chiptunes. What i may be missing is the apreggio. The artist could ofcourse had made this tune longer if he wanted to but this works too. Its not so advanced, and not so great either, but like i said, it works. |
