The "8-bit" led me to think of something inspired by retro video games, but I'm pretty sure it means the sample quality. Repetitive and unfortunately chooses to make use of predictable chords and progressions for its attempt at being deeply emotional. Somewhat decent instruments, but the percussion could have been much better given it's from 1999.
