Trumpet, Guitar Roman Candle...Lead Guitar Sonia Spark...Synth, Voice Chrissie Banger...Additional Keyboards, Voice Lyrics: We are Americans with big cigars We built a multi-national pathway to the stars And when there is no room We're moving to the Moon or maybe Mars We sent the Astronaughts into the sky It cost a hundred billion dollars to make them fly And the people on the ground just stood without a sound It made me cry This is Cape Canaveral calling We've found a crack A piece of your engine is missing We can't keep track And no one who's up there's coming back .... This is Mr Space Man calling I've found the crack There's some of my marbles missing I can't keep track And no one who's up here's coming back We are Americans up in the sky We spent a hundred billion dollars to make us fly And the people on the ground just stood without a sound It made me cry Yes the people on the ground just stood without a sound It made me cry It made me cry... Footnotes: This song is not intended to be offensive to Americans. Indeed it was written as part of a set of ten songs in a tribute to the brave American Astronaughts who lost their lives in the Challenger Disaster. The lyrics represent one of several different viewpoints offered in that set. This always sounded good played live so I tried to create the atmosphere of a live concert! (I'm sad that way!) The finale uses music written by Leonard Bernstein and is roughly based on Keith Emerson's interpretation. Written and tracked by Steve Roz (Rozsongs 1995) Revisited April 2012
