Contrapunctus III: Fuga in c Fuga is to many the essence of polyphony. Various themes chase each other in different voices, accompanied by free counterpoint used to interpret the harmonic content of the themes in a new way when appropriate. This one is written in double counterpoint, meaning that the two themes can appear in any order from bass to soprano, free counterpoint filling the vacant voice. Vesa Norilo AD 2000 250 years have passed since the master of counterpoint passed away. To celebrate his legacy and promote polyphonic music whose pinnacle his works represent, I shall write a series of contrapuntal pieces in tribute to him. To J. S. Bach, my humble reverence. I will gladly instruct everyone interested in Bach's composition technique to the fullest of my mediocre ability and knowledge. Mail me at warder_dlc.fi if you are interested.
