This is generally a chiptune, but it has some similarities with more aggressive genres (rave-ish sound in intense parts of the melody due to the high tempo, although not as high as in a typical rave song). This is not a plain chiptune, because aside from standard sine, square, etc. waves, there are many additional acoustic samples. All samples (there are 18 of them) are 8 bit, but the mix is so good that it is not evident.
The melody is intense in the very beginning of the module, and then soft and intense parts begin to alternate. The balance between tension and calmness is maintained. Both soft and intense parts of the module sound very nice. Patterns 16 to 20 (2:25 to 3:01) are my personal favourites here.
This module went ahead of its time. I had not expected to hear what I heard here from a 1996 module. Wow.
