¦                                                                                  ¦
¦ Interstellar Medium is a trance song with some melodic synth-pop fused within.   ¦
¦ While prominently featuring certain trance archetypes, such as a gradual fade-in ¦
¦ and four-on-the-floor beat, it also seeks to avoid certain pitfalls of the       ¦
¦ genre, such as tasteless repetition and unoriginal drum lines. To that end, this ¦
¦ song utilizes glitchy percussion throughout, especially after the buildup and    ¦
¦ melodic distorted lead. (It's definitely not a poorly-tracked electric guitar.   ¦
¦ No way. Nuh-uh.) It exhibits a driving bassline to keep things interesting.      ¦
¦                                                                                  ¦
¦ This track is best enjoyed when envisioning a dance party on a deep space        ¦
¦ station. It is simultaneously chill, mysterious, forward-moving, energetic, and  ¦
¦ boisterous.                                                                      ¦
¦                                                                                  ¦
¦ ...In all honesty, this song probably isn't as original as the above paragraphs  ¦
¦ would have you think! =P It's original to me though--I tried not to consciously  ¦
¦ draw inspiration from other tracks while making this one. Hilariously, I managed ¦
¦ to, y'know, unconsciously draw inspiration from other tracks. For instance, the  ¦
¦ chords leading into an arpeggio is taken straight from the track "We're Finally  ¦
¦ Landing" by HOME, which I passionately commend. The vibe was inspired by other   ¦
¦ tracks, such as the 50 KB .xm "we go..." by Jugi. I thought that it was a little ¦
¦ too repetitive and slow-building, but I liked the chords and percussion, and so  ¦
¦ I made something similar. Another module that probably influenced me indirectly  ¦
¦ is the classic .s3m "Point of Departure" by Necros. I like the way that song     ¦
¦ makes you feel--it's melancholic, contemplative, fast-paced, and about as lovely ¦
¦ as trance can be.                                                                ¦
¦                                                                                  ¦
¦ This is my first released song made using the music tracker OpenMPT. ...Well, at ¦
¦ least I can bank on that to explain why I stink at multisampling instruments. I  ¦   ¦
¦ began tracking this song on September 9, inspired by a preset I discovered on a  ¦
¦ synth in Reaktor 6. I tracked patterns 0-9 in about a week and hit a blank on    ¦
¦ what to do next. I finally created patterns 14-16 after a multiple-week deadlock ¦
¦ and decided to end the song with two patterns I had already created (patterns 10 ¦
¦ and 11) rather than risk making the song blandly repetitive. Imagine my pleasure ¦
¦ when I showed this song to my grandmother and she told me that it felt very co-  ¦
¦ herent! I made a few tweaks over the course of the next several months (yes,     ¦
¦ months) and cut the filesize down by eleven gigabytes, resulting in this version ¦
¦ which you are now listening to. I'm not quite 100% happy with how this track     ¦
¦ wound up, which says something about something, but I'm not sure what. I just    ¦
¦ decided to stop tweaking it and release it as it was.                            ¦                                                       ¦
¦                                                                                  ¦
¦ As usual, all constructive criticism, critiques, or comments are welcome! Do not ¦
¦ hesitate to share your opinion, whether good or bad. I would also ask that you   ¦
¦ tell me specifically what you liked or didn't like about the song, please. Thank ¦
¦ you in advance! =)                                                               ¦
¦                                                                                  ¦
¦ As for module playback, this track has lots of ModPlug hacks (such as 256-row    ¦
¦ patterns, stereo samples, illegal pattern commands, etc.), so I strongly recom-  ¦
¦ mend using OpenMPT, BASS, XMPlay, or any libopenmpt-compatible player. Also note ¦
¦ that this track uses MIDI macros Z80-8F to change the Q factor/resonance of the  ¦
¦ channel's filter.                                                                ¦
¦                                                                                  ¦
¦ Sample origins are in the sample list. Do not rip samples 34-35 because they are ¦
¦ taken from commercial sample banks. If you do rip these samples and distribute   ¦
