True MOD godhead. MODhead? :D Sidewinder is a rarity, an American MOD composer on the Amiga. A lot of his MODs have great bits but, IMO, don't quite congeal -- Pulse8 is a good example of this, an almost-great MOD. But on Alacazabra Sidewinder knocks it outta the park. The combination of techno and jazz and the raw, hungry rhythm has blown me out of my chair since my first listen. Sidewinder keeps building and building the power, then letting go, then building again. Despite the length of 8 minutes, it never lets you go. Without question, one of the greatest MODs I've ever heard.

One of the very first mods I downloaded from the modarchive well over a year ago, and arguably one of the very best. The song begins as a very hard-edged techno piece and without losing it's power, turns slightly jazzy at the end, all the while maintaining a wonderfully original sounding hip-hop/techno drum beat. If you like a more powerful punch to your techno, this is an essential mod for you to d/l. While this song tends to get busy at times, having so much "going on" within the melody, it never ceases to impress. The technical foundation of the song is excellent, with some nice sound samples and clean breaks here and there just to keep the listener on his/her toes.

Finally, another American! Okay, so I agree with TMA placeholder in the sense that it retains a perpetual, almost urban-sounding beat throughout nearly the entire song. I also like how he kind of builds up the energy, then he lets it unravel, and so on. This song is amazing.
