Last Day On Caladan By Aragorn Finished: August 2000 Finally, this one is done... Most parts of the song have been lying here for more than a year :) This one is about the part of the book Dune, where young Paul Atreides is about to leave his home planet Caladan, and to go to the desert planet Arrakis, into an unknown faith... Because the song is rather slow, I kept it short, 'cause it seems longer I think. http://aragorn.cjb.net mail: boozemoose_ aragorn.cjb.net

This guy worked a lot on the song, but there is one problem with it: It's too slow. This would be a lot better as BG music in a movie or something. You can't listen to it... also, the music suffers from instrument problems: they cut each other off, resulting in a really mechanical sounding piece. The tune is good, though, cause it's very emotional. I can imagine this guy leaving his planet forever, cause of what-not. It's good. Impulse Tracker Format (.it) would have been better here, because XM (Fast Tracker) doesn't support overlapping samples in the same track. This results in strange instrument cut-offs that screw around with the song... But in all due fareness, this is a technical problem, not Aragorn's. Also, Aragorn's choice of samples is good, since they complement the song well. Unfortunatly, there was a lot of wasted space here, with 15 unused instruments, 2 unused samples, and 11 samples with junk after the loop end-point. That's what really brought this song down, but still a good listen.
