January 15th, 2005, The samples in this mod come from many places but I never really took into account who I was taking them from. I can remember Gopher, Church of Selene and some sight that uncleBen recommended for samples. Other than that, I'm sorry if I stole your sample and didn't thank you for it. Other than that, I'd like to state that tracking orchestral is hell and I probably won't try this style again for a while. I also promise that I'll take into account who's samples I take in my next mod. -Borger (the.borger_gmail.com)

Borger is a tracker many visitors of the Modarchive community should be familiar with, due to his extensive reviewing in times of difficulty for the big site. As a big fan of various flutes, i am happy to hear one of my favorites used in what is really an emotional intro to this song. The theme is soon interchanged with heavy orchestric drums and horns play at low notes. From the cute, nearly Final Fantasy-like intro, the tune evolves to a nightmarish journey of power. The 'evil' theme, as i would like to christen it, continues in different forms until about 2:25, when the beautiful flutes are brought back in and the 'evil' appears to fade away with the bright tones. The end is, however, near, and the song only lasts for a few seconds after the two themes coincide. The tune runs for 3:02, which, in my view, might be on the shorter end of what could really be an epic journey. The two themes just came together to create a beautiful combination, but then the song ends shortly after. I like the musical side of the song. Borger knows how to use various instruments to make the song both cute and powerful at will. The mixing is not flawless, especially with the horns. Without studying the tune in a tracker i cannot say for sure, but some more work on them might let them have a better 'flow'. Agreed, making horns sound professional in a tracker is hard because you only have limited effects to use. The alternative being the use of variations in horns, but this, of course, makes the song much larger - not to mention much more advanced. Overall, i like what Borger has done. I would like to see it longer. In fact, this kind of tune would enjoy being atleast twice as long. Something in the six minute range. The tune is quite repetitive, but this isn't a big problem. What happens, though, is that the listener might think the tune was too short. The main theme, the flute, only plays twice, at the beginning and at the end. Borger should really have used it more, and made the tune longer. I would also like to mention that i like the selection of samples, as well as the overall idea of the song. It fits into a number of themes, be them Final Fantasy games or medieval stories where knights roam. I like this tune, but it could have some tweaking to make it sound a bit more professional. Thanks for the listen!
