   creative wavestudio and a cheap microphone
   yamaha pacifica, zoom gm-200 guitar amp modeler

   for "djinn", I have used sound samples from songs by:
   mystical, diktaattori, arjuna, benloh, cadaver, n-drez, and myself.




   song background

   when i entered this song in the spectrum music competition,
   the following text was included:


   'djinni' are ethereal beings from oriental mythology.
   they are powerful, supernatural embodiments of the
   four elements earth, wind, fire and water.
   they have a mind of their own and can rarely be controlled.

   this song is meant to express both the "personality" of a
   fire djinn and the view of a human being towards it. the djinn
   in this song represents everything a human might wish for:
   immortality, power, freedom, ability to fly, not being limited
   by the weight of a body.
   the djinn can set objects on fire. it gives warmth. it destroys.
   there is ambivalence in its actions.
   on a metaphorical level, the fire djinn is responsible for
   setting the heart of the song's protagonist on fire, an action of
   the same poetical ambivalence.
   the fire djinn is considered some sort of "love demon" here.

   every emotion we experience has a physical effect on us.
   for centuries the human heart has been considered the
   "home of feelings".
   whether we experience happiness, love, anger, hate, dismay,
   disappointment, relief, etc our heart speaks differently. there
   are also many different sorts of fire, from a blazing bonfire to
   glowing charcoal.

   this is why every emotion could be described with a type of fire.
   i have tried to have as many of these fires as possible
   represented in one song.
