"Immerai" by The Fly This is easily my best song so far. The title is pronounced "im-er-ray", in case you were wondering. This is another song made for my music GCSE course - but this time it's actually quite a good song. All samples are from TSEC (Lagoona) or emax/trsi. This song attempts to combine an amazing number of different musical disciplines at once. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite all fit together well. The Fly made some glaringly amateur melody lines here, while trying to combine a HappyTrance sub-movement over a House bassline, with a melody straight out of Folk's hammered dulcimers. The strategy's been done better by others, and though Fly easily makes it a decent piece in areas, the whole isn't much to rave about. There's only one real fault in the technics, and that has to be the bassline. It's out of tune with the rest of the piece, and though it provides some thump, Fly obviously tuned it to the wrong octave, and didn't account for overtones. Other than that, the piece is a joy to watch as it scrolls by. He handled the panning expertly - Listen to this on headphones if you hear it. Still, the technique involved here just doesn't make the music any better. It still works better sitting on your hard drive than playing on your stereo.
