After having heard the original by Debbie Gibson in those halcyon days of the late 80's/early 90's, I figured I had to download this one. After hearing it, I have to say I have mixed emotions. While it is definitely LIYE, some of the chords 'feel' a bit out of place (I know, it was done that way to fit in under four tracks, but still). Also, it does not seem as if the melody was faithfully translated, as there are notes that seem to be 'missing'. Compound this by the fact that the song loses a great deal of its original magic without the vocals or stereo, and it quickly becomes difficult to justify a mark above 4. While some of the samples are a bit inappropriate or dodgy, overall, they are well-selected and a few of them are just plain cool. However, the looped string chords are far too short, and tend to grate upon one's ears a bit. In addition, the kick doesn't (should be EQ'd a bit louder in the 60-100 hz range). In general, I feel that the sampling rate could stand to be a bit higher as well - this might help lose some of the dodginess. Overall, the track is okay, but, plagued by these problems, I simply don't feel that it's in final form yet...
