I don't think anybody was screaming for a remix of "Kikapoo," but DJ Jole made not one, but two of them. This is the first I reviewed. The idea behind remixing a song is to make it better, or more interesting. If a song is already good, it shouldn't be remixed (like that dreadful Stardust Memories re-edit I've heard). Since the original Kikapoo ain't exactly a perfect song, I guess that would make it a candidate for remixing, but this version is neither better nor more interesting. It's essentially a carbon copy of the original with different samples. That's it! Why didn't the author use some creativity? It's just as boring and uninspired as the original! That's all I can really say about this. The patterns themselves have changed slightly - this has twice the channels as kikapoo.mod, but they're not put to very good use. The sound is just as effective in the original. The author took a very unsubtle approach to tracking this music out, very few effects or volume changes take place.
