Classification: Bass and Drums Musical Rating: Very Good Bump-bap-dip-pssh! The module has a very nice and catchy rhythm which after a minute is accompanied with a very fitting bass riff. The harmony of this module is very good and its simplicity is satisfying and envigouring. The noise of something pressing on something wet makes me think of an industry which presses lemons - which is a fun extra. Reverb effects and some slight panning in the later parts makes so this module does not feel weak. In general this is a pretty good piece of music for its genre. Very bassy. Technical Rating: Amateur However, seeing how this module is tracked is not very impressive. What makes the module sound so good is the good rhythms, the fitting bass riffs and the very good choice of samples, which of course is very, very important. The only effects used were "set volume" and "set panning" (through S8x), I'd like to see more. With the techniques the author used, he could just as well used MOD or S3M. I suggest the author put names on the channels if he used each channel for a single sample/instrument, because that makes it easier for the viewer to see how you planned the module and follow it. Making instruments of the samples and adding envelopes could increase quality of the sound but is in this case not neccessary. Good work with how some samples fades out, followed by a new theme, though, with the same mood. In the ending you use a very strong right panning for the "alien sound"; I suggest making it turn to the right and keeping it more centralized makes the sound more balanced. If not, make the other drums slide to the right temporarily until the "alien sound" starts to fade. That should do the trick! In general I'd like to see more effects be used. This module COULD benefit from envelopes, note fades and frequency filters which you activate by making instruments out of the samples. Add more stereo, too! //Eagle P.S. Turn on your bass expander and start digging! You'll enjoy it! ;)
