Done by LittleElk -01 Time:-3:02- Ver.:-1.00- Elk haiku: Walks with a Groove the Elkman in the Sunset King of the Forest -lilelk well, I was going to go for the megaman approach with this theme. yes - yes, I'm quite aware that I suck. this isn't megaman at all, but it paints the picture rather well I think. All the samples marked p2k are samples that I've sampled off a Proteus 2000. The Bass is downloaded from Tracker Instruments Repository and the drums are all from Drumology or something. I must commend the author on his style for this one - it was really refreshing and enjoyable to listen to. The song begins with pizzicato strings and some cello...and then the funky breakbeat kicks in. It's an odd combination of instruments, but it works really well. The song slows down in the middle for a different section, and then it kicks back into gear with the main theme again, in a different key. I actually thought that the middle section was unnecessary, and would have liked to hear more of the main theme playing - I'm sure there are lots of ways to add variety to the song without having to completely change the theme. Overall, it's very good musically, I just wish it had been longer. The song has some nice, high quality samples. You wouldn't expect a "floating tempo" with most songs that are based on orchestral instruments, but this song has one. It adds to the funk flavor of this song that's mixed in with the orchestral style. When I first listened to this song in Modplug Player, I thought "that's a pretty good drum loop in there." Turns out it's no drum loop - the percussion is all tracked out by the author, and it sounds great. Good use of stereo panning and good volume levels - solid all around.
