It's more of a complete overhaul of the old masqrade.mod than a re-mix. Masqrade.mod was the very first .mod file I ever heard, and it impressed me quite a bit. I was thinking about it the other day, so I found it in the bowels of my hard drive and replayed it. But it sounded much better in my memory than in real life. I figured a great melody like this one deserved better than an old 4-voice .mod file, so I gave it a new chance with the 16-voice .s3m format. The only changes I made were using a higher key, newer samples, and a few changes to the harmony parts. The melody itself is the same. A remix of an old 4-chn MOD, and I'm so lucky that I have heard the original song, so I can see what Novus has himself done in the song. Well, this song has great piano riffs (like all Novus's songs), but that's about it. The drums are pretty poor, they are too quiet. The piano (though it is good) doesn't carry this song well enough. Though if youre more in to this kind of music than me, you might like this more than I do. Technically it's good (except for the oboe sample, my ears just didn't like it), but Novus hasn't really brought new ideas to the original song. This should be the first thing to think when you make a remix; "What new I can bring to make this tune alive again", or something like that. Well, it still is a good tune, but just not for my taste.
