I hope there's something in this new tune of mine which you all like! I started it a few months back as a tune with 'real' reverb on the snare...and this is how it's turned out!!! I've spent many hours on this tune trying to get the sound (and sounds!) right and have dedicated it to my fave movie of ALL time... STAR WARS! The title (OB1) came from someone who suggested that Obe Wan Kenobi was actually a clone (a la Clone Wars) and his real name was OB1 (similar to R2D2 or C3PO)...Negative Force is the opposite of the good side of the force...I thought I'd just chuck that on the end. :) Well I hope you have a fulfilling 1998 and enjoy life to it's fullest! P L A Y T H I S L O U D ! ! ! (M)Rated January 3rd, 1998 ___________________________________________________________________________ Samples: Most drum samples are from my Korg 01/W synth but some (the bell and toms) come from Martin Saunders' drum kit! (thanks!) I tried to squeeze an entire drum kit into this song (including three toms!)... so if you want to borrow them please don't forget to give credit! Some of the less 'musical' samples were the remnants of a song I tried downloading. I got the note data and bits of some of the samples but the download died leaving me with some extra groovy noises! The Star Wars samples were all done by myself using the original videos (not the Special Edition). Of course these are technically the property of LucasFilm... doh! The guitar samples were recorded almost two years ago and I have finally found a song to chuck them into. Thanks to Gareth Saunders (who is a fantastic guitarist if anyone is looking for one!) for sitting in his garage playing boring notes over and over... ___________________________________________________________________________ Howdies: Alex A, Alex L, ASH, Blue Eyez, dupont, Guyver (AKA New World Order!), hunz, MikMak, GeneS, Pauly W, a big one to PULSE!, riders, Rusty George, SilentHawk, Steel, Tan*, Usman, WingMan, Yerastica and all on #trax If I've missed you then I'm so sorry... it's hard keeping track. ___________________________________________________________________________ Contact (M)Rated: E-mail (home) : soutarm_ocean.com.au E-mail (work) : msoutar_nag.national.com.au (M)Rated's Listening Lounge : http://members.ocean.com.au/soutarm ICQ : 808675 ...or on #trax (log onto IRC server neato.org and join #trax chat room) Get my songs first!!! There goes R2... after the initial sample from StarWars the drums kick in. And it is the excellent drum samples that dominate the song from this point on. There isn't much of a melody, but an interesting arrangement of effects, voice and guitar samples. It would fit best as background music for a game. Experimental synthrock - definitely not relaxing :-) but worth a download because noone can deny that there has been made an effort to create rhythm. The artist managed to create something out of drums and ...well, noise, which turned out to be a solid piece of unconventional music. Well done! There are about 20 channels in action. The artist used only few column effects and concentrated more on the advanced volume/panning/pitch configuration of his instruments. Some of the samples have been laid too much on the left channels; I recommend that you reduce channel separation before listening to this song. But all in all, it's a thumbs-up for (M)Rated.
