Impressive work by a soundtrack maestro (most famous for his work on the consoles): Jake kaufmann aka virt
If you like the musicians at Konami that created the originals, you're sure to love this one.

Great "contra" mashup. A really nice mixture of classic NES sounds and e-guitars. I really love the part starting at ~1:50.

The composer presents with this tune a wild and really interesting metal-influenced tune with great melodies, nice build-ups and of many variations which keeps the track interesting all the way. Some chilled parts with cheezy outcomes! The composer shows off with great musical expertise and of sweet tracking. Some of this reminds me of Children of Bodom, with great riffs and melodies, also solos; and some electronical samples to peak this tune just the right way. At some parts, it could have been more relaxing, its a bit stressing! Could have fitted as game-music! Overally great work! There's nothing to say about the technical introduction of this tune; everything seems clean, no flaws, and the way panning is set at "critical" points are great. The samples are really okey, but since I'm listening to this with headphones I miss more stereo-sounds to it. Anyways, with speakers and high volume, I think this will be a blow-off!

ContraVirt. you know damned well that the little japanese guys making contra listened to 80's metal. they had rocker! posters with big blond guys holding odd-shaped guitars, faced painted in various ways. and they made prog metal on the NES. the poor guys got slighted - BRILLIANT work was made insignificant in the public eye because it was "blips and bleeps." Only us hardcore nerds can see through the square waves and pick out the music. or die (BA-KAOOOWWWWWWWW) trying. this song is for norg/floss, who has taught me the art of the NES remix with his un-fucking-believable Zelda's Reprise. props. hi to #trax, #trax, and #sstrax
