Things You Love You Lose ------------------------ Alex Smith ---------- I've been rather lazy in getting new music made and uploaded recently. It's bizarre too, because I've done a whole year of a Music Production course. I didn't do a single tune while I was on the course. Probably because the course is not the best course in the history of everything ever. Ah, look at me blaming administration skills instead of taking responsibility for my own failings as per usual. But the course isn't actually that good, we never got a chance to do our own music. Let's hope next year is a little better! So, yes, it's been close to 11 months since I last put out a new piece of music. The simple fact is that I haven't done anything worth releasing recently. Honestly, this is the best thing I've come up with since "Why Dream" last August. Well, there is that remix I did of Temporal Disruption 2 years ago that I merged with the vocals from Scooter's "Nessaja" last summer that might get a release. It certainly went down well at a friend's 18th birthday party in March! What's been happening with me recently, then? Well, I had a girlfriend for a little while, then we had a difference of opinion and we split after only 8 weeks. Nothing against her at all, she was a lovely girl, just not what I'm looking for in a partner, really. Sad news is that my Nan passed away in April. She'd been in hospital for over three months so it wasn't totally unexpected, but naturally it was still very upseting. My parents had gone away for a few days for their 25th anniversary (they weren't going to go because Nan was ill, but I persuaded them to go, and I don't regret it). I was the one that got the phonecall saying she'd died, at nearly midnight. It was so bizarre being along in my house at that point. I think I dealt with it well. Before she died, she'd asked my mum to ask me to play some of my music at the funeral. I made special versions of Why Dream, All For You and Blue Shores and they were played. This track is also dedicated to my Nan. I loved her dearly and will miss her forever. She was a big part of my life for 20 years, and I will remember her always. That's about it, really. I have been thinking about leaving Leigh for a few months to go off to Cambridge and do some volunteer work but I haven't heard back from the people yet so it's anyone's guess as to whether it will happen or not. I'm hoping to get a few more tracks out over the next couple of months, so stay tuned, won't us? Alex Smith, June 27th 2003. Please ignore all that stuff in the comments section about my girlfriend. About a year later I got back with her and, as of writing this, I've been with her nearly 3 years now, so I'd say she was actually what I was looking for in a partner all along. Hehe, sorry hunny, if you're reading this!
