No Need For Secrecy by Liam the lemming What's this? you ask. Has the rampant rodent actually run out of ideas for new tunes? Is he so desperate to release new modules that he's going over old ground? Well, no. Not quite, anyway - I passed the original No Need For Secrecy to a friend and told him about a "darker" version which it started off as (I uploaded it to ftp.brad.ac.uk not long after starting to do ProTracker mods - named "The Darkest Secret"). And he wanted it. Well, I could hardly give him the old one cos it was basically the same module with one of the channels lopped off and an ordinary 4:4 beat... So I rewrote it. I'm happy with it, and so's the mate I wrote it for. Result - everybody's happy, and I've got another s3m to upload. There, that's that sorted out, on with the greets. :) Right. Hello's to everyone I know at uni - namely Ian Slavin, Chris Bruce, Bryan Jones, Lee O'Brien, Jon Barker, Shereen Walters, Russ Threadgold, Ste Jones, Dave Wild, Justin Andrews, Pete Mercer, Glenn Payne, Helen Ramkaran, James Williams, Ivan Marshall, Ruth Jump, Andi Riley and the HND2 bods. Did I miss you out? Sorry, I have a lousy memory. :-) And now back to the waffle from the original module.:) I suppose I could mention why the song was written - the inspiration behind it, I mean. Well, like I said already, it was originally named The Darkest Secret. I wrote this song when I was on a real downer because I was keeping a secret about myself from all my friends. I wanted to tell them, but I was anxious about losing their friendship over it. Overanxious, as it turned out. About a month after writing the module, the strain became unbearable and I finally caved in. I told a friend who I thought could cope with it. He did, of course. Things just snowballed from there - within a week I had told almost all of my mates and it felt like I'd been rescued from a prison cell. The relief I got from their good reception of the news was indescribable. Now I'm studying with a whole new bunch I'll have to tell them too... but I won't let it drag me down this time. As the tone of the song suggests, I'm more courageous now - more guts. And the secret? I'm gay... and I'm not gonna hide it any longer. There's no need for secrecy any more. Liam the lemming
