The reason for the weird classification 'rock/ambient' is because it starts out with a rock feel, and turns ambient as it seems to do have no melody for long chunks of the song, especially if you set it on repeat and listen for awhile... it has a slightly ominous feel and a more than slightly repetetive sound. Parts of the song don't flow together very well, and in some places the drum sounds a little whacked-out, which could be intentional, but it detracts from the overall quality of the song in my opinion. The big(>400k) size of this song and the short (1:56) playtime dont help this song out either. This song is well thought-out, but not finished well. The samples need to be simplified to make it flow together better and sound more crisp. The song has a nice tone to it, but lacks depth.

Now is a time of despair,
A time when soldiers of death march,
A time when soldiers of fortune watch,
A time when we all watch
as our world crumbles around us.

--Ken "Wirehead" Wronkiewicz, September 1996

production notes:

Drum samples were ripped from another mod writer, who ripped them from yet
another mod writer who I have presently forgotten the name of.  Feel free
to rip my samples.  I don't really care.  If you want to get technical, I
should have asked Ibaniez if I could sample their guitar.

Guitar, chord, and bass samples are from an Ibaniez RG470 guitar and a
Peavy Studio Chorus 210 amplifier.  Proccessed with a filter or two,
flangers, compressors, and more.
