This track was very nice to listen. It is a piece of music from a demo and it sounds like it too. It really is no song, but more a background soundworld. It has no melody ,but is well tracked and that keeps the song good and enjoyable to listen to. In the beginning the listener can enjoy from a really neat synthpads and sweeps before the bassdrums and some other percussions come along. It was refreshing beat in bassdrum since it doesn't just exist, but it has its own life. Some vocals were also included to the beginning and those sounded good. After the intro some 303 samples come along and the song starts to have some fills. I liked those samples and also the following 303 samples that were used in this song. For a moment this track just goes on and nothing critical happens, it actually loses some samples slowly into the chill-part where the pads take control again. Now the song starts to come into its end, with the same pattern than in the beginning. Ending is ok, some pads and 303 samples live their life together until the very end. This song wasn't that complexed, but it had very good athmosphere. It was pretty dark and oppressive and sounded cool that way. I liked it.=) As said, this piece works very well in the background, but otherwise it may sound pretty dull. Very nice track anyways.=) Good job BenJam... Technical side is ok in everyway. Samples were 8-bit except for one and the samples chosen were good. I especially enjoyed the use of different bassdrums and those 303-samples. Also the strings sounded very nice although those were almost the same through the song. Song was simple from the tracking point of view, but it worked out fine since the athmosphere was created decently. Worth getting.=)

This orchestral track is from the artist called BadliZ and I must say that it is quite good piece. It sounds a bit like some sort of background music from wargame or -movie. So lets get in to it, shall we? =) The song starts with some bows and strings that sound very nice. Soon all sort of drums come along and those are actually quite effective. Song varies a bit as it goes on, but the basic idea is same through the song. It was nice to hear that there was no single pattern that would've sounded too light. Where ever there was a pattern where so many instruments weren't used, it was compensated by the drums. And otherwise the song used just a good amount of instruments and in some places this formula managed to create some really good orchestralmusic. I really liked the reversed crashes that were played multiple times in a row. It sounded nice and different. I also enjoyed the use of percussions. Still there were some things that kept bothering me. The bassdrum and snare were pretty lame compared to other percussions. And towards the end where the bass was heard well, it was maybe played from bit too high. One more thing : The song has a fake-ending, which is a nice idea, but since the song doesn't offer anything new after that, it is quite vain. Anyways, nice track BadliZ.=) Nice amount of panning and surround sound used here. It gave a nice "orchestral" feeling into this song. Well, it should since the song represents the style of orchestral. Otherwise the effects weren't used so much except for the volumeslides. There were both 8 and 16-bit samples used in this song and with those the artist has managed to capture some nice athmosphere to the song. It really sounds a bit like from some game or movie and that ain't a bad thing.=) Worth checking absolutely.=)

An enjoyable piano piece, with some ambient sounds thrown in for good measure, you really get a sense of nostalga from this piece, one is reminded of an anime film, the blend of piano's between alto and a tiny soprano is gentle on the ears, the electric keyboard helps with the ambientsy, well worth a listen. Made back in 1991, this piece is a 4 track pro tracker module, the composer used some good piano samples and put them together nicely in a series of scales and little ditties.

This song is a strange short song comprising of a combination of bass and snare snap in a marching beat with a low throbbing bass sample intermittently booming softly throughout, I am not sure how to classify this one other to say it is somewhat drum and bass a little trance and industrial in feel. In my opinion the whole song lacks thought and planning and not a perticular joy to listen to, although those who like throbbing bass, snap, snare in a marching beat with a couple of voice samples, this is the one for you, I am loathe to call is hardcore but it seems pretty basic. The last thing that strikes me is the beginging when we are introduced to a sample from UCP, "Nothing in this world is more supprising than an attack without mercy..." this repeats all the way through the song, with another sample that sounds like it's in some forien language, actually that sample is kinda funny... There could have been more voice samples from whatever UCP is tv show? movie? and more planning in the drum beats to give it a bit of power and meaning, alas this song falls short of provoking any feeling except monotony, although the composer does explain this is a "little" song.

I think that this is not a bad song...it has a very good potential as a very catchy techno song, but the simpleness and the bad use of the tracker gave strong limits to the melody. Anyway the song is not bad, the melodic line is interesting, and also the bass srtings are good. The bad side of this song is mainly the tech side. The samples used are bad, and there are no important effects. If the song would have good samples and good general tracking it would have been very very good.

I don't know anything about this guy except the fact that he makes some good music.=) This track represents the style of trance and it is a good track, but there was something that was bothering me... There were very nice strings in the beginning and soon the synths started to come out from nowhere. Bassdrum and hihats come along too and after that some new synths come to the background filling the athmosphere nicely. Then the intro is over and the song actually starts... It builds up quite slowly, but it is also nice to listen since the music is good, it rolls on with steady beat and nice backgrounds, but all the time I'm waiting that somekind of melody would come along or that at least some sort of leadsynth would appear, but no. It doesn't. Soon the song is over and despite the fact that everything that played was good, I was left with an empty feeling. It felt like that the song never got into anything major and actually it didn't. Too bad since the artist surely knows how to track, but maybe this was some sort of chill-out track... However it was ment to be this tune turns out to be fine for couple of times to listen and in the background it works really well. It is also just a bit different than this kind of songs usually are that it makes this song a bit interesting. Good job Arnola...=) Techinal side of this song was under control in every way. Effects were used well and panning was nice. Mostly 16-bit samples were played and that usually makes quite a difference to the sound. This song sounded clean and samples that were chosen were good. If there would have been a decent chorus or at least some sort of lead the score would have been higher. Not in the way that this song would now be bad, but it was missing something in my opinion... Still worth getting=)

This Bolthar dude is an Italian composer. Pretty new in business I guess or at least this song gives that kind of image.=) Very different song, but it also sounds pretty amateurish... I'm not so sure about the classification, but maybe that goes near enough.=) The song begins with bass and drums. Bassline is pretty slow but when the drums really start to roll, they roll with the speed of deathmetal. Sounds pretty weird so far. Then the "leadguitar" comes along and plays one solo and then the song loops to the beginning. The song lenght is only 1.23 which explains the short description of this tune.=) Bassline was very simple and didn't made any kind of reaction, it just was there. Drums were so unusual that those gave a nice feeling of boldness, but since it wasn't tracked so well, it lost its meaning. Guitar solo was also pretty simple but sounded quite good maybe because of the fact that everything else was so... lame? I don't know, this song did not impress me in anyway. But maybe Bolthar's other songs are good? Who knows, maybe it should be checked out... Yeah... Tracking was very simple in everyway except maybe for that guitarsolo. Samples were mostly 16-bit samples, but that fact doesn't save this song. It might sound better now than an 8-bit version, but the song won't get better from that. Use of effects was pretty minor since only few effects were used and those were slides in guitartrack.

This is an excellent trance song with a somewhat dark, heavy feel to it. I like how the different layers of this song (melody, bassline, voice) are gradually applied, much like the style of Depeche Mode songs. My only criticisms are that the underlying melody utilizing the crystal synth is played incessantly throughout the whole song, and a key change would have made the song much more melodic and less grating, while keeping with the trance aspect. Some of the patterns recur over and over, and a departure from this would have made the song a much more repeatable listen as well. There is no faulting the perfection in how this song was made - studios have rarely done better. The high quality of the samples, instruments, and entire composition has made this song a regular on my playlist.

Another old module that sounds a bit like early 80's discosongs. It seems like that the feeling of the discosong is possible to capture to these mods, but when the melody should be added, 4 channels ain't enough anymore. Something has to be cutted of and then the song suffers. This tune starts nicely with synthtoms and launches the intro with strings and drums. Then bass comes along and the song has a light feeling on. Then the leadsample starts to play which is "theegg" or "the egg". I've always liked that sample, but in this song it don't work that well as it could. There was no decent chorus at all, the song just rolled on and on with some minor variation. Too bad , since this tune sounds really nice in some points. There is also no outro, but the song loops nicely to the beginning. Worth trying if you're a fan of old disco/oldskool-mods. Otherwise this ain't anything special. 8-bit samples, no effects used and an old module. Hard to say anything about the technical side. Tracking was overall pretty nice and the feeling was quite happy and loose through the song. Samples were nice and loop in the end ok. Thats it I guess...=)

Now here we have a song worth listening to. It is a ballad and it was composed by an Estonian tracker called Arenos. Some of his songs have also been in some albums so I guess this guy ain't that bad at all.=) But lets tell something about the facts.. This song has a nice short intro with lovely percussions. In mu opinion those are actually the best thing in this song. Then piano and strings appear into soundworld and the ballad starts to move on... Pianomelodies are very nice and it was also very refreshing that there were also some other samples used instead of piano. It makes a good effect to the song and piano doesn't get "boring" if one might say like that. A small "intermission" in a halfway of the song and then the song starts again with same smooth and neat way... And in the end the song repeats itself into fadeout... I really enjoyed the bellpads and percussions in this song. Pads prevented the piano being the controlling instrument and it made nice variation to the song. And percussions were just enough different than usual, that it made them sound wonderful and effective. Textures and melodies were good and the whole ballad was knitted togehter really well. I liked this tune very much.=) Great job Arenos. Tracking was very nice here - It was simple but worked out fine. Effects weren't used almost at all, but still the song sounded quite professionally composed. Samples were mostly an 8-bits,but the athmosphere was very light and clean. Panning in the samples were good, it gave a nice "floaty" feeling into it. The ending was perhaps just a bit too repetitive, but it is forgiven since the song otherwise was great.=)

This song sounds very familiar. It represents something like early discosongs in the 80's. I ca almost see a femaleartist singing this song, but cannot recall that am I right or not. Well anyway. This is something that you either like or you don't.=) Simple. It start with drums and synthbass and it gets along another synthsamples that create the "melody" to this song. The chorus of this song sounds so familiar and it also sounds pretty happy, but then the song starts to play the same patterns from beginning and then the chorus comes and so on... As this song lasts over 5 minutes it would be fair for the listener to be a bit more creative or then cut off some patterns. Now this song starts to sound a bit boring. But once again : These old mods are so small packages that its easy to try 'em out. So why not? Test this, you might like it. Nothing special to say over here. Samples were all 8 bit and sounded old. Actually the fact that those sounded old was nice since now this song has captured the feeling of an old discohit.=) So the samples were quite nice. What else? Tracking was good in a way,but the artist didn't got enough stamina to use his imagination more so now this song is repetitive. Yeah. Repetitive it is.

K-9 has few songs in MA,but he cannot be founded from artist list. Anyway he is one of those dudes who propably haven't been tracking so long yet, but have some nice musical ideas and potential to be a good tracker. So keep on K-9.=) Song starts really nicely with piano and then it gets in some strings and flute. Drums come into background and soon the violins take their place as a main instrument in this song. Then the piano comes along again and the song travels through its journey.. Sounds good, eh? It is,but it also has some flaws that should be repaired and that lowers the score. First thing that disturbed me, were the drums. When the music is mostly classical, I don't think that deep "techno" bassdrum fit along so well and same thing with the snare although it wasn't so techno as the bd was.=) Second thing was the violins. They sound good, but I would've liked to hear them play longer... Now they were cutted of too quickly and the soft tone of 'em were lost. And the last thing was that the song was a bit repetitive. Almost every pattern was different but sometimes the changes were so minor that it had no effect at all. Then again there were also many good things. I liked the piano very much although it was simple and the strings were also nice. Violins sounded good and it was actually pretty bold action from the artist since these particular violins aren't so easy to use correctly. But I also think that those violins could have been used more effectively. Intro and outro were really good and the structure of the song was pretty whole. Good start K-9.=) Carry on there. As I said the structure was ok and patterns sounded very nice in some points. panning was tried to use very effectively, but it wasn't so success that artist propably hoped. At least it has no greater effect into my ear. Some pop/click sounds from the samples came through while listening, but it wasn't so critical. Samples were both 8- and 16-bits and weren't selected so well as they could have. Next time K-9 test some other samples too before deciding. Everything else was ok, but the drums were a bit different style than the song overall.=) Still, nice little tune.

This Archyx is a Finnish tracker and yes, a good one too. At least I think so after this song. It is very nice melodic tune with pianos, strings and drums. Definetely a guy worth checking if you haven't heard his songs yet. When you start to listen to this song, the first thing you'll hear is very nice pianomelody that guides you through the first part of the song. Of course there are neat drums in the background, nice strings and bass that sounds very good. Perhaps because it really sounds like a bass with some slides. Then the song gets along the leadsample (guitar) that creates very nice melodies into the air. Although the pianos sound lovely, it would have been nice to hear some more variation in them. Then the song breaks a little its speed and gives room to another pianomelody which sounds really nice, especially when other instruments come along too. I really enjoyed the strings in this part, and the melody also sounded wonderful. Slides in the lead made quite an effect to me - they sounded really good despite the fact that those were pretty "heavy" sometimes. So this track starts to end. It has a good outro, although it also could have been a new intro into second chapter of this song, but it still works very well. Overall this tune is very nice to listen. It has no flaws and the songs floats smoothly from beginning to the end. Good choice to download. All samples were 8-bit versions, but the song still sounded quite pure and clean. I liked the samples chosen to this piece. Basic instruments actually but none of them were out of tune and those were used where they were meant to be used. Effects weren't used so much except on the leadsample and in bass, but where those were, they sounded very good. I really enjoyed the slides and vibras in this tune. Textures were good and the drums were used effective. Good job in my opinion.=)

jassy bounce of drums with dark overtones. Synth adds tense drive. Love the main drum loop in this track. The Jive n jass of drums are outstanding, mixed with the Vathian bamboo that adds breath of life to this tribal breaked composition with dark overtones . The analogous main synth adds a sense darkness giving it more of a tense drive. The third pattern kicks in with a lovely drum loop, this is one of my favourite loops I have yet to hear as far as fun drum loops go. This pattern is just an audrumophiles heaven. I could listen to this pattern for quite some time. Nice stuff happening, has some patterns which speak. Pattern #4 has a gloomy everything is dance to it. The track is light(but oppressed) so if you like light then you will probably like the track. I thought there was room for addition( I tend to like very encased sounds). Words to describe jived edge. Samples 8bit/10 channels/.it. Abrasive synth. Neat drum tricks done. The track is light on elements(10channel).some neat drum tricks done right from the top, such as a repeat echo by multi sampling the bd and a three symbol crash. Samples are 8bit and 10 channels are used in this .it. The solitary dark synth pushes the track while highlighting the analogous sounding composition of the sample.

Mr Blu-Funk seems like an excellent tracker. This track is a very nice opening from him and oh, I would like to hear some more of his production. This song is pretty hard to categorize. It mixes together some orchestralmusic and drum'n bass, but in the end.. I really can't tell, but it sounds damn good.=) As the song begins, it fills the air with violins, strings and piano... This far I was sure that I'm going listen some good orchestral music, but when the first drums hitted the speakers, I was surprised. What is coming up? Same orchestral feeling controls the athmosphere with nice drumtrack behind it and pianos sound really nice. And after the track reaches a point of 2 minutes, it reveals the loveliest part of it. One sample that plays backwards takes control for a while and the mood is pretty psychotic. I loved it.=) Some synths also come along here and the song reaches its peak. Then the song starts to fade away, but despite the fact that you can hear the end is coming, it actually comes suddenly. I enjoyed the athmosphere of this song, it was sad, psychotic and maybe even a bit scary. The song title fits to the song really well. Maybe there are some real feelings behind this song... It sure sounds like it. Very unique piece overall and lovely to listen, Too bad it is quite short... Only 3.04. There were both 8- and 16-bit samples used and they were selected well into my ear.=) Drums were used effectively and so was the piano. Strings and violins gave their spices into this track and everything was glued together with synths. I really liked that sample that played on backwards.=) Textures were really nice and the song just slided from the beginning to the end smoothly, but too fast.=) Song title was captured very well to this piece and I just simply liked this.=) Nice job.

Jamsok is a new guy to me. Never before heard his music, but now that I've listened 3 of his songs, I can tell, that he is quite nice artist. His songs are a bit different than the styles usually represent and he has some nice ideas and potential in his tracks. This piece starts of with synths that somehow remind me of Amiga. And why not even a bit longer? Drums get involved and nice bassline in the background is refreshing while the synths create their own world of small melodies. This tune runs nicely forward, but longer I listen to this, it is more harder to think what style of music am I listening to. Sounds like synthpop to me , but then somewhere around 2.30 the song starts to play some electric guitars and as the songs continues the guitar stays in the background and the synthleadsolo sounds a bit like guitar, so I decided that this might have something to do with synthrock.=) Actually if some of the synths would have been changed into guitars, this song might sound pretty nice too since the drums and bass sound quite "real" in a way. I liked the contrast of synths and "real" instruments in this song. Don't know why really cause it is quite usual. And I liked the bass - it played well and it could be heard, but it also wasn't too loud. Really nice tune overall. Different enough to make it sound fresh, but also simple enough to make it fit to everyone from the listeners point. I really cannot complain about the samples cause those were nice, but I still think that those are also the weakest link in this song. There are both 8- and 16-bit samples played, but the song could (as almost every song) sound better with some different samples. Synths were nice but were maybe played a bit too high in some points. Effects were used nicely and the artist really knows the meaning of 'em. Very nice job Jamsok. Looking forward for some new production...=)

Oh baby! This new artist Decibelter rocks in the Jazz-scene. This opening track "flipping chairs" is definetely the best jazz-mod that I've heard. In my opinion jazz is pretty hard to track, but listen to this song and learn how to do it professionally. This song launches itself right from the beginning into intensive world of jazz. It is quite creepy really that the artist has managed to compose so filled and real track. I mean whole the time bassline changes, synths play complex leads, guitars fill the song and excellent drums give a real nice feeling into this song. This is also one of those tracks that where you find yourself playing airguitar or your hands fling in the air when you think your smashing drums. You just close your eyes and start jamming.=) It is also nice that this song ain't that long (2.52). For jazzlovers that might not be so good thing, but for those who don't listen that much of this kind of music, it is good. It works perfectly as a musical snack for everyone. It won't start to bore you one might actually get some kicks out of this and start checking more of this guys production. Hell, I will.=) Imagine : Nice amount of 16-bit "real"-samples (guitars, drums, bass), excellent use of effects and professional touch to this kind of music. Oh yes, this is exactly that. Despite the song lenght, theres so much variation in this song that...that...I'm´out of words. In some points this sounds really like POWERjazz and then again there are times that the song takes it easy. I can't complain anything about this song. It is just so pro in everyway, that if I'd get chills from this, I'd give it a 10.=)

Yeah, well, this is the artists second song and sometimes when the songs are the first ones, it happens the kind of thing that even artist doesn't know that what kind of style his / her song represents. This song has drums that remind me from Queen's "We will rock you". And then there are some electricguitars added couple of notes here and there and the rest of the song is vocals from Stanley Kubrick's "2001 : Space Odyssey and propably from David Letterman Show. This track ain't that much of a song. It is more likely an experiment where the artist has just tried how some samples play.=) So if this song ain't that good, it sure is different from the others. ;) Second module from the artist so it is quite usual that there is nothing good to say about technics.=) The best part of this song is the end where is played that famous phrase from Kubrick's movie : "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that..." Oh yes, and the lenght : 1.24.

Since the filesize of this song is nearly 400 k's, I was very curious to hear what kind of song this is. And when I listened the samples and noticed that this will be metal, I was anxious since I really like old metal mods, but.. Then I also noticed that the filesize is explained with the amount of vocals. The song uses some guitarsamples, bass-, and snaredrum and vocals. Drums are very simple although those are used with some variation. Somehow I also liked the guitars. Nothing great in them and the use of 'em is amateurish, but they sound good for some reason. And the vocals... Well, bit low quality on them and they also sound quite blury. But again, there is some idea on vocals too... I really don't understand : I listen lots of metal and I first was going to give this max 3 points, but now that I've listened it more, I've started almost to like it.=/ I'll repeat this once again. This song has nothing special to offer, but there is something weird that makes me want to listen to it. Creepy. Drums are propably the worst thing in this song, when talking about samples.Tracking has been very simple in this song and imagination hasn't worked that much during the composingpart. But what the hell, why should it always work? It is sometimes nice to hear something that has done without any brainactivity.=)

Christmassongs are ok if those are played only at christmastime and if they are good. Now the xmas has passed, and this song ain't good so it is awful. Yepp. Someone has propably checked the notes from some elementary music book and tracked the song trying maybe add some own spices along. But when you use 2 samples ( Piano & Perco ) you should really track something more than this. Now the song sounds like you've opened a playing jewelrybox from the 60's. The song sounds very repetitive and there is also some points where composer has managed to get the song out of tune. On the other hand, when christmas comes again and some people will propably collect once again christmasmods to play from early morning till the late night, this might be a normal selection to that list. It is short and since it is xmastune it is quite happy. But otherwise I do not recommend this song to download. With 2 samples it is quite hard to make any bigger mistakes. There are couple of 'out-of-tune'-points, but nothing major. Artist hasn't used any effects and the song has no decent ending, but it also has decent loop so... I didn't like this piece at all.

Beathawk has released many files and the scores vary from 2 to 9.5.=) In my opinion he is a great artist. This song proves that once again, but it maybe also proves that he ain't that good with vocals.=) Song starts with nice synths and it has pretty nice intro. But when the song began and the vocals came in... I was very surprised. Vocals were pretty low quality and didn't sounded good to me. I'd rather listen this one without them. The song is pretty fast and it has some excellent melodies and patterns. I love the "solo"-part in this song and right after that the song changes for a while and adds some oriental spices. Quite refreshing thought and point.=) Then the song rolls on till the end with those lovely melodies but for some reason there is a place in the end where flute is been used and it sounds a bit weird there, but doesn't really get annoying or anything. There is also a nice synthtrack playing with low volume in the background which sounds really nice. It is very quiet, but it fills the song nicely. Overall very nice song. Good music with not so good vocals, enough variation and it has a nice duration : 2.55. Very well worth downloading.=) Samples are all 8 bit and there is lots of 'em. Artist uses them really nicely in some points and the use of effects is very professional. Vocals could be better but that is propably the only thing that is wrong here.Musically this is a very good song, but there are those couple of minussides and same thing on the technical side. The song title means "pain of creating" in english.=) This song has a nice intro with some hihats, strings and synths. After the intro is over and the song has started to roll on, it sounds very nice, but when the leadsample comes along to fill the song, it loses the "power" of this track. Since the background is quite happy and cheerful it would be nice if the leadsample would also create something a bit more happier. Now the song is suffering from the fact that it sounds a bit empty. But still, the song is very good. It has nive melodies and it has enough variation. Pretty basic synthpop tune that could be a contestant in eurovision songcontest.=) Nice job. Samples are nice and effects are used enough and with skill. I liked the synths in this piece and piano in the background was also nice. Drums were basicstuff and the lead is pretty usual synthlead. Too bad that it wasn't used so effectively that the song deserves. Nice textures, structure, intro and fading in the end.

Very, very nice chiptune, over 4 minutes long and fun the whole time. The main melody is your standard chiptune melody, with your standard arpeggiated stuff in the bground. Very nicely done drums. Very nice, uses all the effects generally used in a chiptune, and good sample wuality. This is just your basic chiptune, it deserves to be downloaded. So go get it now.

This song is a very good soft rock piece. It start with a solo guitar playing the main background harmony line, then the drum line kicks in, melting nicely with the playing pattern of the guitar. The drums are greatly used, adding tension just before the arriving of the melody. The melody is lively and real sounding. Musically the melody seems to be just jamming around without going in any specific direction; it's definitively a mood song. Halfway before the end of the song, a slightly different musical direction is taken; the song breaks and the guitar playing the harmony line is emphasized again, allowing the twist to be introduced without sounding unnatural or too quick; then the song starts again, this second part is a variation around the first one, using the same instruments , but with more tension, i wouldn't say that it was predictable at the first listen, but it has a "dejà-vu" vibe. The short length of the song prevent it from being repetitive, which is a good thing. The textures used are very classic for the style and even though it's good, the only drawback that could be pointed out is that the song doesn't shine so much on the originality side. The samples are of average quality, the author used a set of samples for each instruments to create variations. Some samples have background noise... was it done on purpose? i'm not sure, but anyway, it add warmth and prevent the song from sounding ice-cold. Effects are not overused; in fact, most of the song just use volume slide and panning effects. Speaking of panning, the stereo image of the song is well balanced, but not wide enough, a more adventurous use of panning (especially on the lead) would probably add life to this tune.

Time to introduce to you all a new artist from Sweden. He calls himself as Tigerwookie and composes mostly dance/trance stuff. This song is pretty nice opening from him. Lucia has also inspired other artists to compose. BAM has a song about Lucia and like there, the vocals in this song are propably from the same game : "Lucia of Lunaria". The song starts right away with steady beat and vocals. Sounds really like some of these trancetraxx that fill many compilation cd's. Couple synthsamples come in and when the intro seems to end and the song really begins, the song sounds like Westbam for a while. The song plays nicely into second part (2.00min) and this is the place that I love.=) The synthsound here is very usual in this kind of style, but somehow it sounds so good here and I've rarely even heard it in the mods. And from this point till the end the song really sound like a dancetrack. I know that the beat in this style usually is very similar through the song and songs, but it would sometimes be nice to hear something different. Good drums were played in this piece anyway despite the lack of variation. The song also sounded pretty "thin" and light... Propably because the strings were on pretty low volume. Those were good but weren't used effectively enough. In other words : This track was very nice overall. It has very good parts and sides, but for me it sounded also somehow too tame.=) Nice work Tigerwookie. Samples were both 8- and 16-bit, but the result is quite clean and pure. Drums were well selected and I loved the synths in the end. And as told, the strings were also nice but were too silent (for me).=) Artist didn't used that much of effects but nothing in this song requires them, so since Tigerwookie used effects where needed, I'll believe that he knows the use of 'em.=) Nothing to complain on the technical side. One more thing - panning was nice on the samples, especially in the synths ;)

Well, another new artist in TMA. According the Lonestars artistpage (s)he has released 500 tunes and this is one of them. This song didn't impress me though. It is actually a mod with 4 channels and very similar with old protracker mods. Nice beginning this song has. Some synthbasses, and drums sound nice mostly because of the hihats. Then strings come along and yea, song sounds nice, but then... Leadsample ruins the song.=/ First of all, it doesn't create any catchy melody. It sounds more like just some notes putted after another and then it is slided and vibrated and everything. Leadtrack is filled with effects but that makes it sound even worse =/. Too bad since there is actually nothing else wrong in this song. Background sounds ok overall eventhough it is maybe a bit repetitive. It sounds like artist hasn't got any interest at all to create the melody and he was forced to compose this solution - which doesn't work. As told, the song sounds like an old mod and so do samples. I liked drums and strings and bassline was ok too, but that leadtrack... Use of effects on leads aren't the greatest thing to listen. Fine adjustings miss and it really can be heard. Artist sure knows the effects and meaning of them but at least in this song he had no energy / ear / will / or something to fix everything up to make the melodies sound good. Pretty short song too - only 2.26.

Well, believe it or not - this is a top 10 song.=)Don't let the scores scare you this time because the song is actually good.It is composed by a Finnish guy called Yrde and he is pretty new here in TMA. So lets have a look what this guy has managed to upload here... The song starts with really nice strings. They sound very different than usual, ethereal and somehow even...well, old? And in the background there is this nice sound that reminds me of a campfire on a winternight. Or then it is ment to sound like old vinyl.=) Speed is slow and maybe this sounds like those recordings that are ment to relax the listeners.=)Then the song gets in some new samples like bows and flute. The song sounds very good over here and if you close your eyes it is almost certain thing that you'll see some beautiful things that you're imagination will create with this music... But then, the song just ends and only 2.22 has passed. Reasons why this song gets only 8.0 are : It is too short, I would love to hear it more. This is very simple song overall and actually it is also a bit repetitive. The song won't get boring with this lenght even if you listen it few times in a row,but the fact is that there really ain't that much of variation. But anyway, despite those things this is a very beautiful song and it would get higher scores if it was longer and it would keep the lovely athmosphere. Very nice job Yrde.=) Umm, well there isn't so much to mention here in technical side. Samples were 16-bit and sounded very good. With some other samples this song would sound so much "thinner" and it would loose a big deal of its ethereal mood. Textures were nice, but I really missed some more variation. Use of effects was minor thing in this piece, but well, this song really doesn't need any effects so it is quite good that artist hasn't started to put in any slides or vibras. It is best just the way it already is.=)

I have no idea that who the artist is. This song sounds very old, but also like from some old pd-amigagame.=) The beginning annoyed me badly, not so good start to this mod. There is this "chinese" sample that I dislike and it just gives me the creeps almost everytime. Drums are very basic, but the synthbassline is quite nice. Then the "chorus" ends and the song starts to sound pretty nice. Same samples are used, but the 'chinasample' is played from so low that it sounds like entirely new sample. Too bad that this part of the song is so short. Well, actually it can't be long since the whole song lasts only 1.16.=) The song loops to the beginning and the loop ain't that bad, but it can be heard.=) Overall pretty basic old oldskoolmodule that has good and bad sides. These songs are almost everytime worth listening. It gives nice memories and a happy feeling.=) Nothing technical here. No effects used, no playing with samples. As much techniques here than in old T-Ford. So pretty tough to say anything... Hmpfh. Well, now that this song has played over 11 minutes in a row, it sounds pretty ok. But the scores won't rise.=) Try it and figure out yourself how this sounds...

This artist cannot be found from the artistpages, which is a pitty since this song quite good and even made me look for the Labe I - couldn't find it.=) This guy is a Czech and besides that , also a very good composer.=) The song starts with beatiful synthstrings and for a while the listener might expect slow ballad, but in a few seconds the song changes. It gets in a fast "drumline" and orchestralsamples and so the song begins... In times the song sounds like from a medieval adventuremovie and then again like from the battlefield where knights fight with their swords. Extremely nice melodies and textures in this song. It has enough variation to make listening being interesting but also the idea of the song stays together and it doesn't have any radical changes. Lovely piece overall... But what about the minussides? Nothing serious. Drums are very simple, and are the same through the song. It is ok in a way that it fits to this piece, but I missed something stronger. I was also little confused about the "pizzicato"-sample. It was played too fast in this piece since the song otherwise is pretty slowtempoed. BUT, those are not mistakes - just something that bothers me.=) So in other words : This song has no greater flaws, it is effective and it works. Good enough reason to download? Yes. Simple piece in technicalside, but everything that is somehow "technical" is ok. Samples are very nice, but it was somehow odd that the song uses veeery much orchestralsamples but then there is this synthstring...=) Naah, it sounds good and shouldn't be even noticed.=) I liked the horns in this song, its been a long time since I last heard decent hornplaying here in TMA, so this song is a good in that way too. Quite short when thinking about the style :3.23. It is good in the way that the song won't get boring, but... Now it sounds pretty short. Good thing I'd think? =)

Very melodic. Milankolarovic has given it a very catchy melody and built on it. This was actually a remake of a previously released MOD version for the oldskool music compo held at Assembly`2000. It unforetunately didn`t qualify to the final round. It seems to keep that oldskooly spirit really well. As soon as you here the first few pattens of this you know your in for quite a treat. Buiteful sampling. Although the original version was mod, and i am reviewing a remix here, it's still kept to the same feel of the mod, but sampling has been greating improved. Lots of portamelo and offset have been added to enhance the sound. Everythings well balanced and the samplings excelent

I really wanted to write a positive review for my first review, but this song is really bad. This song sounds like it may have been the artist's first song. I can't believe it even got in the archive. It starts off OK, with an odd bassline and some drums, but then the horrible guitar and synth samples kick in and the supposed "melody" begins. Music theory seems to have gone right out the window here. The artist lists "progressive punk rock" as the song style, but that doesn't really fit. I don't really know what to call it. Most of the samples are bad. They are all 8 bit and aren't exactly tuned. Of particular note is the guitar sample, which is excusable because good guitar samples are hard to find. I think that the artist could have cut the guitar sample out completely without much change to the song. Simple effects are used, mostly just tone portamento and note delay. Tone portamento is overused, and it sorta ruins the song. To Mcorda: restrain yourself from using your guitar sample and tone portamento. Tune your samples. And try to make your songs a little more simplistic. I would rather listen to a simplistic song with high quality, tuned samples than a complex song with your samples.

Heyy, what is this? Another Russian with high musical skills? First there was this Avator guy and now Dj KeeN. These guys really got the place on my HD.=) This track belongs to my toplist in this category. In one moment, this song sounds like from sci-fi movie and then again it gets into some really energetic dancepoints. Total 8 minutes of awesome music. The song starts with very nice intro and it is really like from x-files or something. Then the song turns into its 1st part. It really has no melody or anything in this point yet but still sounds very good. Then comes the "chorus" and oh man it sounds nice.=) After that there is another "moviesection". Chillpart is similar from its athmosphere than intro, but is a bit longer and sounds even more like a movie. And 2nd part of this song starts and it also represents more something that... well, still has no melody. It is creepy how it still sounds good. But then... Another chill part. Not in the way that it sounds bad or anything, but the song starts to break a bit. One more time the song raises into chorus and then comes the outro. As told - this song lasts for 8 minutes. And with this amount of changes from chill to dance, the song suffers a bit. Radio edit from this song would work maybe better, but is also very nice to own this version of the song.=) I my opinion this track is the best in TMA that I've heard this year.=) Well, if the artist uses huge amount of 16-bit samples, skillfully uses effects and has musical talents, can he produce something bad? Well, at least Dj KeeN didn't. Danceparts of this song sound very good, but aren't anything unique, intro and chillparts on the other hand sound very "different" into my ear. Drums were used effectively, strings sounded good and I really liked the desertguitar. Its use was simple, but it worked. This guy and track is definetely worth checking out.=)

It is a pitty that this guy has no artistpage. I'd really love to listen more of his songs. This song represents very well made drum'n bass. It ain't so complexed, but still it gives you a happy and groovy feeling.=p The song starts with a man singing how he has 2 legs and so on. Some fooling with vocals here and then the drum'n bass really begins. Fast and nice sounding beat starts to pump the air and the same vocals in the background play couple notes higher than normally. Then vocals disappear and for a while music sounds like you're in the amusementpark.=) And then we can hear some acidsamples that gives a nice contrast to the samples before. And over here the song starts to squeeze towards the end. Drums start to beat again and vocals come back, and allthough everything plays together here, it remains as a whole package and doesn't sound bad at all. Pretty sudden ending, but at least now the song lenght is nice (2.56). This song is an excellent snack and propably sounds good even for the ones that don't like this style so much. Very nice job from the artist. I really got nothing special to complain about. Everything is ok here too. Almost every sample is an 8-bit sample, but the song don't sound even old. Drumline sounded very nice and wasn't repetitive in the way that it could be noticed. Vocals fitted to this piece wonderfully and playing with those really gives a nice effect. Bass sounded good too and.... Well, everything just sounded good. So easy.=)

Introductions for many mods out there are often undeveloped, as many artists choose just to jump into the meat and potatoes of the song. This song here, takes the time to develop and introduction and it is to its benefit. It is a good solid effort and helps the song a good bit, by setting the mood early on. After 15 seconds, you know this is going to be a relaxing song. Further along the author does a good job with keeping the song from going stale by keeping a variety of parts going underneath the main melody. And while speaking of the melody, it is a pretty good melody once it gets going. Personally my favorite parts of the song are from roughly 1:50 to 3:00. The song gets to a point in which it actually expresses feeling. Overall this is a good song, and is worth your download. Well theres nothing to really get myself worked up over here. The techniques used on the technical side are sound, and used when necessary. If there was anything that I *HAD* to nitpick about, it would be the piano sample used. After a while it sounds as if its not *QUITE* in tune could just be me though.

Avator is a Russian guy and this is the first song from him that I've heard. It represents the calm style of ambient with some drum'n bass influences. And it sounds very promising...=) This song starts with strings, drums, bass and some flutes on the background. It runs smoothly and softly forward with a bit faster drumtrack. Everything sounds very balanced and even silky and somewhere in the 3.40 the tune gets in a pianomelody. If the drumline would be different here this would sound very much like Enigma in the album MCMXC a.D. Melody sounds really good and actually it plays from here till the end.=) Creepy (but good) thing is that it doesn't get annoying since it really plays over 3 minutes more. That is propably the only minusside of this song. When the song lasts for 7.04 and it has no greater variation, it starts to sound repetitive. So does this one. if you just start to listen to it. But put on the background or listen to it when decided to take a nap and you most likely will love it. =) Very well composed song and a must download for everyone that likes to listen this kind of music.§ There's been used both 8-, and 16-bit samples, but the soundworld manages to sound clean. Elements in this piece are blended well. Smooth ambient style and well done drum'n bass track are a good mix when tracked like this. Effects are used, but this kind of music don't need them so much. Lets just say that everything that this song needs is there.=) Textures are really nice and I especially liked the sample that sounded like dolphin. It was a nice spice in the song. If the song would have been shorter or there would have been just a bit more variation, this song would have gotten 9 or maybe even more. But still - very, very good song.=)

This track is something that you even really like it or then it is nothing. I personally like it. Not that it is composed marvelously or anything, but it has really great mood. Pretty sad, but still melodic. This song has no intro - it starts right away with strings, drumtrack and couple of tracks filled with chipsamples that create the melody. Soon there is only on track available from chipsample because the bass comes along, but it doesn't matter, the artist has managed to keep the music "alive" and it doesn't start to sound "thin". This song is really simple except for the chiptrack that is filled with effects and the melody... I really like it, can't help it.=) If you really start to listen to this song, you can hear that background is basically same through the song, but if you just let the music get into your head, it doesn't matter at all. Too bad that this one is short (2.02). Samples sound old, and the loop in the strings is...well, not so good, but still - if you don't start to listen to criticize the song, you won't even notice it. Very good effects in the leadtrack, and I also liked the arpeggio when it was used in one pattern. This song also has looped ending and this time it has done properly.=) Quite nice tune overall.

This guy is a German, and since I didn't founded his artist name, I took the name from his e-mail. So if you have an artistname then contact and I'll fix it. Well anyway, who let this piece through the crapfilter? Gees, this song has really no reason to be in TMA. It is quite awful in every way. Repetitive, annoying and unimaginative, but happily it is short.=) This one starts with old sounding housepianos and drumtrack. Everything sounds normal for a while, but then some sort of flute-like-sample appears and oh my does it sound awful or what... And it even never stops. When the song ends the flute keeps on playing.=/ And that same piano and drumtrack is played almost through the song. So, I suggest that artist would keep on tracking if he really wants to do some music and I also suggest that noone would download this song. Sorry to say like this but... Thats the way it is. Nothing special to say in this section. No effects used, no fading in flute that remains to play forever, no nothing to mention about. This is something that should not be uploaded here

This track represents those old amigamods from early 90's. This one is from the year 1993 and it sounds like it... Which is sometimes actually pretty good thing. This artist cannot be found from our artistlist. This song is pretty repetitive and it ain't got anymore speed than other technosongs. I expected some really fastpaced techno, but no no no. Just the same old tempo. But there are some good things too. I liked the samples. They sound just like those technosongs that played on radio in the beginning of the 90's. And in some places the song even has some...Well, attitude? I don't really know what it is,but it just gives a nice feeling.=) Maybe it is just the nostalgia. Simple, short (1.52) and not so good techno track. As I told, the samples were nice and thats about it for the good things. There are some effects used but the use is so minor that there is no reason to get into it at all. The song doesn't really end at all - it is looped to start almost from the beginning and the loop ain't that good.=) Well, I guess thats about it from this piece. Nothing to say, nothing more to write. Avoid this.

This song is an excellent specimen of new age music, which uses broad, sweeping synths to evoke a feeling of drifting or flying. This is a mellow song, and has easy transitions into different melodies while keeping the same undertone. If you like this song, definitely check out Leaving All Behind (another Karsten song). It's only drawback is that it not an extraordinary melody (imho), but Karsten's professionalism would make any song worth listening to. Karsten's expertise is shown to the fullest extent in this song, via his ability to seamlessly integrate beautiful sounding instruments and orchestrate them to make a song sound the way it was meant to. To put this song into perspective, I would say that Karsten's songwriting skills are up there with the likes of Necros and Jogeir Liljedahl, and his orchestration skills are only matched by the occasional gem, such as Sunshine of the Morning Sun by Area51, or Nimbus by Per Westerberg.
