I just found the spedup_ module sitting in the part of the queue which is hidden from screeners at the moment because there are people uploading “sped up” versions of the original tracks. These are considered RIPs and will be rejected. Plagiarism isn’t cool my guy.

“This module was rejected because it is pattern matched with the original. This is NOT considered a remix. This was moved to a queue which detected identical pattern matching for the whole module. This is considered a RIP.”

The _spedup filename there suggests these are not genuine remixes, its certainly a quality issue, we've only had one person able to do screening so theres been nobody else to double check whether these are ripoffs or not. Looper and I will check

https://modarchive.org/module.php?199656 and https://modarchive.org/module.php?199657 are duplicates.

make sure to keep 199657 since the author wants 199656 to be removed.

(saga please be active here again just this once, you're clearly better than me)

Had to do it myself since I recently got admin powers...

I hope your realise it was me who granted you those, for the purpose of granting XML API keys, but you have taken it on with gusto and done some stellar work so just thought I'd let yu know.

It’s very cool to hear stuff coming in from Japan, especially oldskool stuff, thanks for bringing it along!

Promoting Spotify etc services to people here is like the antithesis of why people are here for module music. Its nice to know you are making it out there but please bear in mind that it falls on very deaf ears here on TMA where open format modules -are the way- and streamed music is very much shunned.  :-[

Its a common mistake I see happen, and it can turn into a lot of negative response which is totally opposite you want to happen :o

So many return-to-roots artists fail to recognise that they themselves have moved on and beyond into the mainstream channels while we (module zealots ) have intentionally not.

I too am on those same services, which is why I am sharing this as it might not have been clear but promoting stuff from them on here is kinda frowned upon simply because its overground, not underground

That said, welcome back LJR.  :azn:

News / Re: Scenesat has provided an extra vCPU
« on: December 22, 2023, 18:24:29 »
Am doing some benchmarks to improve performance, main page loading random lists has a large impact so bumping those randomized lists to links and increasing the sorted lists, have to wait a few days to see the outcome but can tell already pageload is down from 5s+ to 2s.

Bumping the Quick Picks off to a linked page instead as that is a randomized list as well.

News / Scenesat has provided an extra vCPU

Today I am very pleased to announce that Scenesat has allocated an extra virtual CPU to our system, thanks in part to the few donations Scenesat receives via Modarchive.

I will soon publish some notes under the Scenesat donation link indicating that we may be able to expand available resources for Modarchive  through donations.

In the past when TMA donation drives allowed me to rent high speed dedicated servers with many CPUs we had lots of spare processing power to allow for growth, unfortunately the donation drives ceased when I went on an emergency hiatus for several years to work on personal issues. The consequence of that was the donation pool eventually ran out of money and nobody picked up the gauntlet to keep it going!

Thank goodness for Scenesat, especially Ziphoid and Fnord who provisioned a virtual server, which is why we now direct our donation drive towards Scenesat.com- if you are not familiar with Scenesat, they provide high quality live video and audio streams from many demo-parties, where module competitions frequently take place. Additionally, Scenesat provides a lot of infra for hosting radio shows by sceners, and also broadcasts scene-only music 24/7,  including fantastic music modules.

Making a donation through the Modarchive donation button on the main page will tag your donation and put it towards keeping the services online as well as possibly enabling us to earn additional resources for operating Modarchive.

All the best wishes and strength for the new year,

m0d
