there's also that thing that I do....
step 1: drag non-sound files into the tracker
step 2: zoom in and look for something that looks like it'd make a good chip sample
step 3: copy and paste that one section into a new sample
repeat those untill you're happy with what you have....you can also downsample (in open modplug anyway?) to find interesting things...and then,
step 4: use this thing to tune all your samples...(I have a tendacy to skip this step, though...
)
