PC Players / Help identifying old DOS player
« on: September 29, 2020, 17:47:47 »
Long ago, I found an amazing mod player and have since been unsuccessful in rediscovering it. Here is what I recall of it:
* DOS-based
* PC-Speaker output compatible
* Refused to run with DOS High-Memory enabled
* Rich graphics: near-full-screen spectrum analyzer overlaid on a starfield simulation overlaid on per-channel vertical VU meters
* Rich graphical user interface (navigated by keyboard)
* Coded in Assembly Language, per the claim of the author

What was amazing about this software was that it could run 64+ channel MODs on a 25Mhz 486SX processor on a PC-speaker while also running all of those graphical effects.

I'm flummoxed how this software isn't easy to rediscover, given its polish and capability - comprehensive searches on the web have turned up other famous DOS players, but after having tried each in turn, none of them are what I remember.

I appreciate your suggestions, links, or uploads!
